Angle Park Preview
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
Race 1 and the Rasmussen kennel has a handy one in Apocal Bale. He has won 3 of his last 4 all in good fashion and will be very hard to beat from box 3. Encosta Kahn is returning from injury and will be an improver along with Senni Tony and Lolly Bale. Box Up the inside 4.
Race 2 and Micko Fozz was awkward away last start here but tonight out in box 6 he gets a chance to return to the winners circle if he can stay out of trouble early. All Silver is another who will be on the pace along with Red Can. Box Up 1.5.6.7.
The 3rd event and this is a 600m affair, these are normally good betting races. I will go with the newcomer in Allen Wake. He has won 7 from 37 along with 10 placing’s, he had reasonable form over the middle distance back in Victoria. Charter has pace and is well drawn out in the 7 along with Poetic Mover who will be running on. Box Up 5.6.7.8
Race 4 and I am going with a bit of pace here and that is the Kim Johnstone trained Disco Dave. He has been in the thick of things lately and appears well suited to lead and win this. Nevada Smith has claims along with Zac Bale and Everlasting Gaze. Box Up 2.4.6.8.
Race 5 and the pace will be coming from out wide in the 7 and 8. Animate could be a smokey from box 1 and kick up and would take beating if close enough early. Allen Illem is another who is more than capable when on song. Box up 1.6.7.8 in a good pick 4 event.
Race 6 and there looks 4 main chances and I will go with Stews Mistake as he loves box 8 and hopefully will charge across and take up the running. Galilee Spirit has the draw and should start the punters elect. Wild Soul will be charging home again and is always a chance. Box Up 1.4.7.8 in a terrific race.
The 7th and the first of the semis, put everything you have, including your wife’s rings on Oakvale Flyer. She will start very short but she wins this easily. So let’s go 1 from 2.4.6 in the trifecta and pick 4.
The 8th and now it’s time to double up from the race before and put it all on the 3 runner
(Remember gamble responsibly) but she just wins and it will be like taking candy from a baby. Add in Texas Titan and Spicy Peppa. Box Up 2.3.7.8
Race 9 and this is the distance affair of the night. Manila Express has been placed in Melbourne at her last two and she will be very hard to beat in this. Zara McLaren has struck form and is the big danger. Let’s go for a $1 investment 8.2.4.6 in order.
Race 10 and Woodside Jagger has let me down in recent weeks, but should be able to kick up from box 1 and take the lead. Add in Kasai Warrior who will be hard to beat. Box Up 1.6.7.8.
The final event is race 11 and I like the inside 4 again in race book order 1.2.3.4 Midway Magic just needs to be handy early to win.

Tonight we see the running of two $4,800 semi-finals of the 2014 Brian Johnstone (Group Three).
In the first semi-final Jeff Britton looks to have a strong hand with race favourite Oakvale Flyer in box 1 and Weblec Belle in box 2. Both were impressive heat winners last week in 29.65 and 29.84 respectively and it seems only bad luck would see them miss a place. Chances must be given to likely leader Gun McBain from box 5, the very strong and talented Dashing Dee Dee from box 6 and the consistent Sunday Shoes out of the blue box.
In the second semi-final it looks another Jeff Britton affair with three chances including Group 1 performers Oakvale Destiny and Texas Titan. They also won their heats last week in 29.68 and 29.79 respectively and it could prove to be one of the highlights of the night as the big guns do battle. Spicy Pepper, Dodger I Am and Footluce Diva look the best of the rest and will have their work cut out in what looks a top race.
The first four from each semi-final qualifies for the $36,500 Brian Johnstone Final on Thursday 4th December with the fastest fifth being declared the first reserve and the other fifth placegetter the second reserve.
The breakdown for the Brian Johnstone Memorial will be: Total $36,500, First $25,000 (inc $1,000 to breeder), Second $6,500, Third $3,250 and Unplaced $350.
The box draw for the Final will take place on course tonight after the running of race 9.
The final part of this series will be the Gawler Classic 2014 to be run in January 2015.
An added bonus for racing tonight is the heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup at Albion Park. Hot on the heels of the Melbourne Cup last week this week there are six excellent heats with plenty of depth and class.
The first heat is race 3 on the card due to start at 7.56pm (SA time) and features Keybow and Superfonic. Other exciting greyhounds competing in the series are Kiss Me Ketut, Iva Vision, Happy Haswell and Awesome Project.
The racing should be of the highest standard and super competitive to see who makes it through to the rich $75,000 to the winner Group 1 Final next week. It looks a fabulous nights racing with my early tip for the series being Awesome Project for Darren McDonald.
Patrons on-course at Angle Park will be able to watch all the action as well as compare tote and bookmaker odds. Tattsbet will have fixed odds available on the series and provide First 4 Jackpots for all heats.
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FLAVOUR INTERSTATE TONIGHT
Tonight at Sandown Lauren Harris has Blue Viper engaged in Race 11 in a Grade 5 event over the 515m. She has been quoted at $16.00 which does seem over the odds event though she has drawn box 7.
Also tonight as Sandown Genghis Kahn who has changed trainer will be racing in race 7 over the 595m. Trained by Graeme Jose he was the best middle distance greyhound in SA so it will be interesting to see how he measures up in Victoria.
Meanwhile at Dapto Terry Cahalan has Alderley Reform engaged in the Dapto Puppy Classic series. He has drawn box 1 in race 4 and looks very hard to beat after his impressive victory there last week.

AGRC NEWS
LUCKY DRAW
Reminder on how it works, this year we have drawn 4 names for each week’s Thursday race 8, next to each name is the box number of the dog you have drawn in Race 8. If your box number happens to win Race 8, you can renew your membership next year (30th June) for half price. We have drawn 8 names on the night of the AGRC Xmas dinner, so some one has to win that night.
If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win. It is up to you to notify an AGRC committee member on the night that you want to take up this option and we will randomly draw one of your dogs competing on the night.
AGRC Committee members are Alan Amezdroz, Barry Stewart, Petar Jovanovic, Natalie Bailey, Gabe Vistolli and Gavin Harris.
AGRC XMAS FUNCTION
The AGRC committee has booked 120 places at Chasers Restaurant on Thursday 11th December, for our annual Xmas function. All members and their partners are welcome. The club pays for the buffet and provides drink vouchers for you both on the night. If you wish to bring extra guests that is fine but any guests will pay the normal price for the buffet. If you could please advise Gavin Harris 0418853111 or email [email protected], or Natalie Bailey 0417855532 or email [email protected] by the 4th of December, so we can finalise the numbers. This is great value for all members, so we encourage you all to come along. On the night the AGRC committee will be conducting some raffles and seat prizes as well and it is always a good, fun night.
NEW RED VESTS A BIG HIT
After terrific feedback from the Industry the new red vests are being distributed to all of our tracks to be used as the main apparel for participants. Participants are able to purchase their very own red vets for $20 however GRSA will still always have some available. These vets look very smart and come up particularly well on Sky Racing promoting SA Racing so with that in mind the long parade coats will be phased out of action with participants required to have a black or navy jumper available to be worn under the vests.
An implementation date for Red Vests to be the only apparel used will be advised shortly.
HOT WEATHER POLICY
A reminder to trainers with the hot weather coming to make sure they are aware of the updated conditions relating to the Hot Weather Policy. This policy is available on the GRSA website and also at the track.
PRIZEMONEY INCREASES
In response to better than expected first quarter returns from wagering on South Australian greyhound racing product by national wagering operators, the Board of GRSA has resolved to make an additional allocation to industry returns for the current year. With effect from November 10, the returns for Category 2 racing – which currently includes Monday night meetings at Angle Park and Tuesdays at Gawler – will increase by an average of 15% across all grades. Allowing for the previous increases announced in July, this decision takes the total increase to industry returns in 2014-15 to more than $370,000 equating to 6% growth on the previous year.
Additional funding will also be provided to Strathalbyn, Mt Gambier, Port Augusta and the GOTBA to remove their dependence upon the charging of nomination fees for race meetings at those venues. This initiative will not only satisfy a key objective within the 2012 Strategic Plan, but also reflects the Board’s belief that such charges represent an unreasonable burden on our participants. On the basis of the current arrangements, the removal of nomination fees will result in an annual saving of $50,000 to participants at those venues.
The following changes to category 2 stakemoney and the removal of all nomination fees will take effect from Monday 10th November, 2014.
