Angle Park Preview - 2nd December 2021
By The Shadow
As we have now hit December its time to start stacking some cash away and here at headquarters tonight we can do that with a couple of good things on the 10 event program, the Rasmussen kennel should have another good night with their Victa litter. As always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.
Race 1 - We kick off with a Maiden and we will stick with Express Speed who was runner up here last week when looking the winner, he is drawn to have every chance. Simply Chaos is the danger and will find this a lot easier than her past couple of assignments. Garry’s Chaos can fill a place. Box Up 1.2.4.6
Race 2 - Influencer was a last start winner here from box 2, he should get a nice sit early and will be right in the mix. Velocity Fairy has early pace and looks the likely leader but does struggle with the 530m. Compulsory Hero will be doing his best work late. Box Up 2.4.5.8
Race 3 - This is a wide open affair so it is worth having a First Four here, the Lauren Harris trained Finniss Flash can improve from the good draw. Finniss Blossom showed pace here last start to lead only to be run down she is a chance on that effort. Add Goose Steps who will be getting home hard and Outback Rebel who is better than his past couple suggests. Box Up 1.2.5.8
Race 4 - There is a lot of speed here with See You Smile and She’s A Hotshot, they should be the ones to catch on their recent racing. Stars Aligned has been racing well at Murray Bridge and will be running on strongly. Box Up 1.2.4.8
Race 5 - Victa Haydn can return to the winners circle here, he is a strong type who has won 3 of 5 this trip and is our top pick. Sell More Houses was a last start Gawler winner over the 643m, he goes well here and can run into the money again. Add Rugged And Ready for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.8
Race 6 - Mallee Magic has been in outstanding form winning three of his last four here all in handy times, he looks the one to beat again on his latest win here. Victa Saige along with Wizardry Things both have good form and are well drawn. 4 from 1.6.7
Race 7 - The Rasmussen kennel hopefully has had several winners prior and they have another big chance with Victa Kurt in this, he has been runner up here at his past couple here and is one of the better chances again. Hot Spartan is another of theirs and he will be running on late. Resurgence is a first starter here in SA he was placed at the Meadows last month and is one for the trifecta. Box Up 1.3.4.7
Race 8 - This is another wide open affair and all 7 runners have a chance here, Foresaken is well drawn and has been in the money in 8 of 12 he can run a cheeky race again. Boombox Hammer proved too strong for them last week winning from this draw he is also a hope. Victa Reid along with Sunset Toxic for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.3.4
Race 9 - Frankie Boy is the one they have to catch again here over the 730m, he has been in handy form of late winning three of his last four and should start the punters elect. Barbados Express is the danger as she has been runner up at her last four here and is very capable out in front. Twin Pick can round out the trifecta. 2.6.1.8 For a $1
Race 10 - The final event of the night and the main two chances look to be Shall Not who has a perfect record of 4 from 4 and Love And Rain both have been in terrific form and have a good turn of early pace. Spring Crossing will be running on strongly and can never be left out. Box Up 1.2.4.5

GRSA SKY WEEKLY SCHEDULE TO CHANGE FROM 1st DECEMBER 2021
From the start of December, the Sky weekly schedule of greyhound racing in South Australia will change.
The first two Sundays of any month will routinely be scheduled at Murray Bridge with the remaining Sundays being allocated to Gawler. The primary reason for the change is about providing both of those Clubs with an accessible weekly timeslot which helps them to cultivate a strong base of local patronage.
GRSA explored the opportunity that exists to secure a permanent Friday night timeslot on Sky but those plans were curtailed by the existing congestion of meetings in that spot. The model of ‘shared Sundays’ represented the next best solution for a strategy based on community engagement.
The Murray Bridge region is synonymous with racing, and has been the site of the two most significant infrastructure projects undertaken by SA’s thoroughbred and greyhound codes in the past two decades. GRSA expects trainer numbers to continue to grow in the region well into the future, and increasingly so as the traditional (greyhound) training regions to the north of Adelaide experience heightened levels of development. The strategy, as it relates to Murray Bridge, is also partly founded on the fact that the Rural City of Murray Bridge Council is such a proud supporter of local racing opportunities.
The schedule will transition from 1st December 2021, which will allow crowds over the December and Christmas period to enjoy prime-time racing opportunities at each of Gawler, Murray Bridge and Angle Park.
NO TRIALS ON BOXING DAY AT ANGLE PARK
This year Xmas day falls on Saturday 25th December with Sunday 26th December being Boxing Day.
Due to critical staff being unavailable on the Sunday there will be NO trials at Angle Park over this weekend.
CHRISTMAS SET TO HEAT UP AT ANGLE PARK
Things are expected to heat up at Angle Park during the two weeks leading into Christmas with the introduction of six rich events over the 530m, 595m and 730m distances.
Dubbed the “Festival Of Fire”, the series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations for the 530m trip, the best 28 nominations over 595m, and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event. Separately, heats and final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night, will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner.
The Festival of Fire series will commence on the racenight of Thursday December 16, continue into the Saturday timeslot and then culminate in 5 finals and a special stayers event carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 23). As a new event, the Board has resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model. This means that the majority of the stakemoney for the series will be additional to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to industry through the WAP model.
Conditions –
- Greyhounds must be SA trained.
- Greyhounds must be in South Australia as of midnight 1st November 2021 to be eligible (greyhounds that have not had their first training amendment lodged that are in SA at this time will be eligible)

CHANGE TO ANGLE PARK SATURDAY IN DECEMBER
Greyhound Racing SA only has one Fortnightly Saturday Morning in December which was programmed on Saturday 11th December with no racing on Saturday 25th December due to Christmas Day.
This would give us a 4 week gap until our next Saturday meeting in January. GRSA has liaised with Racing Queensland who advised that they are prepared to swap their Fortnightly Townsville meeting with ours for Saturday 18th December which will give SA a 3 week gap before and after our Saturday meetings.
Trials will remain on Sunday 12th December due to staffing at Angle Park and trials will now be on Sunday 19th December due to the race meeting. GRSA will update this to industry closer to the dates.
GRSA appreciates the support in regard to this change from Racing Queensland, the Townsville GRC and Sky Racing. The date changes are listed below -
