Angle Park Preview - 29th October 2020
Tonight’s features are five heats of the 2020 Leigh Rogers over the sprint for the Grade Six runners, they look wide open and is sure to make for a terrific final next week. We also see the champ Sir Truculent later in the night over the distance (race 9), again we have a 12 event programme and all races are Trifecta and First Four events.
Race 1 - The opening event is the first of the Grade Six series and we will go with Fly For Trix for Jane McNicholl, he has won 3 of his last 5 all in quick times and has the early pace to lead. Long Gully Fred returned to the winners circle here last start winning in 29.94, he is a must for the Trifecta, add Emerley Phantom for value. Box Up 1.2.3.4
Race 2 - Express Eve found a heap of trouble here last start when unplaced behind Fly For Trix, she should find this more to her liking and is drawn for a forward showing. My Little Shelby is in outstanding form with 4 wins on the trot all over the short, she steps up to the 515m tonight and is a chance of leading for a long way. Box Up 1.3.5.7
Race 3 - I like one in this at each way odds in Raylene Bale, she has handy form over the sprint and 600m and the inside draw should suit. Cawbourne Blaze flashed home to win here last start in 30.27 but can be hit and miss on box rise, he can run into the placings from his draw. From the Gallery handles a wide draw and appears a Trifecta chance. Box up 1.2.7.8
Race 4 - Zipping Marshall made his debut here when running 2nd in a heat of the Adelaide Cup behind Coorong Lucy, he is well drawn and is one of the better bets of the night on that effort. Zambora Lulu has handy form, she has early pace and is in the powerful Murray kennel. Gold Flyer can’t be left out on her recent efforts. Box up 1.3.4.7
Race 5 - This certainly is a wide open affair and we will go with the versatile Victa Jess, she won over the 600m two runs back then made late ground over the sprint here last start when 3rd behind Mercedes Monelli in 30.07, she only needs to be handy early to score. My Little Felix has terrific form over the short, she has been placed over this trip and is a chance of leading for a long way. Rogue Planet handles a wide draw and can fill a place. Box up 1.3.7.8
Race 6 - Defy gets his chance to return to the winners circle tonight, he has been racing over the sprint of late, he has won 6 of 8 over this trip and is drawn for a bold showing. Cawbourne Madox won from this draw two runs back in a slick 34.85 leading throughout, he will be right in the finish on that run. Box up 2.4.5.7
Race 7 - Rushes should start the punters elect, he has been missing the start of late and will be doing his best work late despite his poor draw. Low Flying Crow and Emerley Zero for the Trifecta. Box up 2.5.7.8
Race 8 - Fantastic Shell is my top pick in this, she had this draw last start when 2nd in 30.16 after finding trouble just after box rise, she is a chance of leading tonight and is capable of running time on the lure. Hot Spartan has been racing well without winning, he loves to run a place and is a big chance in this. Cawbourne Sophie and Power Stone can figure. Box Up 1.4.7.8
Race 9 - This is the distance affair of the night and I can’t go past Sir Truculent, he worked home well here last start for a strong win in 42.86 over Wooden Tiger, he loves a wide draw and the small field is a bonus. Wooden Tiger and the pacey Miss Takiri for the minors. 7 from 1.5.3.
Race 10 - Ask Me Now was a smart Gawler winner at his last start, he ran 2nd from this draw 3 runs back behind It’s A Riot in good time at this venue and should be right in the mix tonight. Hot Zorro has been racing well he has early pace but he doesn’t win enough for mine and appears a place chance again. Box Up 1.4.7.8
Race 11 - The box draw has made me select Classic McLaren in this, he was a very good 2nd here last start behind Toora Ziggy in 29.75, he has won from this draw and is strong, Zipping Ted started the punters elect at his latest effort and finished 3rd, he is hit and miss early but is a must for our Trifecta. Velocity Bottino is quick early and is another for the top three. Box Up 1.2.5.8
Race 12 - Woodside Zulu gets a long way back in his races, he will be flying home and can run quick times with a clear run. Threaten is well drawn, he has broken 30 here in the past and from the rails brings him right into calculations. Corryong McLaren will be another running on at big odds. Box up 2.5.7.8

SATURDAY MORNING FORTNIGHTLY MEETINGS
We recently introduced the fortnightly Saturday morning meeting at Angle Park and to accommodate this meeting through our weekly schedule we made some changes to the number of races run during and after this meeting at other venues.
We have changed to all G-Six except for feature and specific races, moved the Wednesday meetings to be back to back Straight track and then Angle Park on a three week rotation.
We have also made the Saturday morning meetings Time Graded with alternate conditions as this is the biggest group or greyhounds, with programming crucial to accommodate the weekly schedule.

The final field will be an 8 dog field plus reserves, comprising of the greyhounds running the fastest times in the Heats, regardless of their finishing position in the Heats. The final will be run on Monday 9th November.
The next meeting after this will be on this Saturday 14th November -

UPDATED CROSS BORDER DIRECTION – MOUNT GAMBIER
The updated Cross-Border Direction (No. 17) has been released and is now in effect. This Direction opens free movement to Victorian residents within 70km of the border (that is, no reason needed), but you still need to have your 7-day COVID tests. You also still need to possess a permit (either the current one or apply for one if you have not done so).
HOWEVER, the new Direction has been re-written to clarify the position of where you can travel into Victoria. South Australia has effectively quarantined the area 70km both sides of Victoria to cross-border members (you). If you now travel more than 70km into Victoria, you can no longer cross into South Australia under the cross-border community member status. You can still cross but would need to apply under a different entry status. However, the other options are not suited to a race meeting visit.
What this means is, if you travel into Victoria more than 70km, you cannot rely on your cross-border community member status to then enter SA. The Direction is unclear on what time frame a Victorian cross border member who travels more than 70km into Victoria is not permitted into SA. Please check with police on this, but it is likely you would need a 12-day COVID negative test cycle (effectively, two 7-day negative tests), before you could cross into SA. If you went back into Victoria more than 70km, for any reason, you would need to repeat that process before you entered SA.
277M FOR MT GAMBIER UNTIL 305M INSTALLED
After consultation with the Mount Gambier GRC, GRSA have approved the re-introduction of 277m effective immediately, however, they will cease when a new distance of 305m is made available, hopefully by the middle of November.
The Club believes a short course distance will assist their greyhound numbers in the region and allow the Club to continue to meet nomination requirements.
There will only be two 277m races introduced effective immediately, one for young Maiden greyhounds with the youngest greyhounds gaining entry first based on age. There will also be a Masters 277m with eligible greyhounds being selected on age with the oldest given first preference. Masters conditions will be the same as races conducted in the Metro area with greyhounds 3¾ years and above eligible.
GRSA strongly recommends trainers nominate for multiple distances to ensure they do not miss out on a run at the meeting.
BEANIES NOW AVAILABLE FROM GRSA
Approved beanies are now part of the GRSA Dress Code Policy and available for sale from GRSA. These beanies are GRSA specific and are the only ones approved. They cost $10 and are available the GRSA racing office.
