TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The TAB 2020 SA Match Race Series is the highlight of tonight’s racing here at headquarters, it will be interesting what times they can carve out after the amount of rain we have had. We also have a very good distance event and two 600s later in the night, as always, all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - We can start the night on the front foot with Mepunga Isla, she is in the Laurie Cahalan kennel and trialled here in 29.96, she was a last start winner at Warrnambool and is drawn for a bold showing. American Man and Cawbourne Madox for the minors. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 2 - This is the distance affair of the night and Sir Truculent flashed home late to win here last week in 43.10, he is all class and is our top pick again. Angry Trip is the danger again, he has won his past two here and can’t be dismissed. Vivid Dream for the Trifecta. 1.2.6.8

Race 3 - Shadow Mist scorched the track here last start when running 29.29, he has won 8 from 10 at this venue and looks the measuring stick once again and should run the fastest overall time. Catch The Thief has trialled here in 29.43 and will be right in this. Zipping Zarbo has handy Victorian form but would need to be at her best to win overall and Golden Night should win his Match. 2.6.8.3

Race 4 - This is a wide open affair and I like one here at each way odds in Cawbourne Boomer, he has a good turn of early pace, he has been runner up here at his past two and is a big chance of leading. Jack’s Well can be hit and miss on lid rise, he is a handy type and a win wouldn’t surprise. Add Black Baccara and Shamrock Lava for the First For. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 5 - Hank The Hustler found early trouble here last start before making good late ground to run 3rd behind Rushes in 29.82, he loves a wide draw and is our top pick. Yarindale is very strong and will be the one running on. I’m Top Girl has been missing the kick of late and appears a place hope. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 6 - Rushes landed some good wagers here last week when winning by over 4 lengths from box 1, he is well drawn again and will be very hard to beat. Oakvale Elite has won three of his past four at Murray Bridge and loves this draw. Up Time Girl can add the value for our Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 7 - The Lauren Harris kennel could be in for a good night and they have a big chance in this with Danyo’s Gretta, she is in top form and is drawn for a bold showing. Classic McLaren wasn’t disgraced when 4th in the Derby final here at his latest effort, he will find this a bit easier and is drawn to be right in the mix. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 8 - Long Gully Barny has been in fine form winning three of his past five, he has early pace and loves this draw and is our top pick. Kipling and Cawbourne Scar both are amongst the main chances to run into the Trifecta, they have good form and cant be left out of calculations. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 9 - This is the first of the 600s and it is very hard to go past Oakvale Blue, he is stepping up over the extra trip tonight but shows in his races that it won’t be a problem, he won over the sprint in 29.87 four runs back and looks very hard to beat. Allegra is our value runner, she has been placed over this trip but is still a Maiden after 37 starts. Scarred Warrior is drawn to run a cheeky race. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 10 - Its always good to go home on a winner and Mercedes Monelli is knocking on the door and can go very close, she has been running on well over the sprint so the extra distance should suite. Kiss My Boss will find this a lot easier than her recent racing and is well drawn. From The Gallery and Rising Moon for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.6
