TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We have had a massive month of racing here at headquarters  and tonight with a 12 event programme we are continuing the theme of strong nominations, there appears to be a couple of good things tonight so we will concentrate on these events, as usual all races are Trifecta and First Fours.

How good were the MURRAY CUP heats (sorry GAWLER) on Monday night, the final for next Sunday should be first class,  father RAY and son TROY have seven runners out of the eight  so they will need 14 handlers in total for that event.

Race 1 - The inside two look the main chances in this and I will stick with Rushes who found a heap of trouble here last start, he has a big motor when on song and should be right in the finish. Oakvale Beauty has won her past two in good fashion and loves this draw. Danyo’s Charlie has early pace and looks a Trifecta chance. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 2 - This is a tricky event so we will have a crack at the First Four. Time Wise won on debut with a handy 30.26 win, he is in the Butcher kennel and is well drawn. My pick is Rogue Planet who will be running on, he is hit and miss on box rise and looks well placed in this. Shamrock Lava has been racing well and is a must along with Sallynoggin. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 3 - Mercedes Monelli gets her chance to break through in this, she has been the bridesmaid here in recent runs and from the draw should be right on the pace early. From The Gallery is in the powerful Murray kennel and has won her past two. Allinga Chloe has early pace and loves a wide draw. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 4 - This is the distance affair of the night and we saw a upset here last week when Miss Takiri led throughout to score in a very smart 43.07 at 15/1 defeating the champ Sir Truculent, I think the champ can bounce back tonight and turn the tables. Wooden Tiger can run the Trifecta. Box Up 2.4.6.8

Race 5Joe’s Gold has been in very good form of late winning his last three here and Gawler all in handy times, he won over this trip last start from the same draw and looks one of the better bets on the programme. Shadow Burner is another who is racing well and can figure in the minors once again along with Shanlyn Haven for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 6 - Danyo’s Gretta has good early speed and is dropping back to the sprint tonight after a game 2nd here over the 600m last week, he won here 5 runs back in a slick 29.67 and is drawn for a bold showing. Oakvale Elite was a last start winner at the Bridge in good time, he is drawn to give plenty of cheek. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 - There looks to be plenty of chances in this and a lot of early pace. Fantastic Shell made short work of them last start when scoring from box 1 in 29.75, she is very strong and is well drawn. Slick Riot has great early speed so should be in the firing line along with Yenderra Evie which can get home hard. Box Up 1.2.8.9

Race 8 - This is the Classic Prelude and its hard to go past Fly For Trix down in box 1, he won here last start in 29.70 leading throughout, he has won 3 of his past 5 all in quick times and is our pick. Coorong Nugget has been hit and miss on lid rise of late, he is a big strong type who will be doing his best work late. Express Eve and the in form Our Boy Wolf for the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 9 - Private showed good pace here last start and battled on gamely when 3rd behind See You Smile, he will only be improve by that run and is drawn for a bold showing. Chevy Chaser won up the straight two runs back, he is stepping up in distance tonight and has place claims. Box up 1.2.7.8

Race 10 - I like one in this at double figure odds in Sky Wesley, (why) well he won two on the trot here earlier in the month in handy times, he is a chance of leading the inside brigade and could pinch this. The dangers look to be Velocity Bottino who is the form runner , she is another who has early speed and is well drawn and More More More should start the punters elect and is a must for our Trifecta. Box Up 4.5.7.8

Race 11 - Another Storm will be the one to beat here, he has been in terrific form at Murray Bridge and won here 4 runs back in 29.82. Bad Lieutenant charged home to score here last start in 29.93 from a rails draw, he is well drawn again and cant be overlooked on recent efforts. Box up 1.2.5.7

Race 12 - The Rasmussen team can send us home on a winning note with Zipping Ted, he missed the kick here last week when 3rd and was only beaten a length, he loves this draw and should be too strong. Woodside Zulu is an awkward beginner but will be flying late and is a big danger, add Christopher Rose and Zipping Chrome for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.5.8

SATURDAY MORNING FORTNIGHTLY MEETINGS

We recently introduced the fortnightly Saturday morning meeting at Angle Park and to accommodate this meeting through our weekly schedule we made some changes to the number of races run during and after this meeting at other venues.

We have changed to all G-Six except for feature and specific races, moved the Wednesday meetings to be back to back Straight track and then Angle Park on a three week rotation.

We have also made the Saturday morning meetings Time Graded with alternate conditions as this is the biggest group or greyhounds, with programming crucial to accommodate the weekly schedule.

The next meeting will be on Saturday, 31st October –

Timed Graded Meeting-“Worst to Best” rating. Greyhounds graded into 3 categories; Maidens, 1-4 wins & 5 or more wins. Specific grades of greyhounds are not considered except for Maidens. Races–N/P with Pathway Prizemoney. Reserves will be determined by Grader. There will be No Guarding. Refer to “Time Based Grading” published conditions.

$850 Six fastest forward (5+ wins) Heats – 388m (Maximum 4 Heats - $1,700 Final Monday 9/11/20)
(Selected from Worst to Best of this category. Final field will be a 6 dog field plus reserves, comprising of the greyhounds running the fastest times in the Heats, regardless of their finishing position in the Heats)

• Nominations close Tuesday, 27th October at 9.00am.

277M FOR MT GAMBIER UNTIL 305M INSTALLED

After consultation with the Mount Gambier GRC, GRSA have approved the re-introduction of 277m effective immediately, however, they will cease when a new distance of 305m is made available, hopefully by the middle of November.

The Club believes a short course distance will assist their greyhound numbers in the region and allow the Club to continue to meet nomination requirements.

There will only be two 277m races introduced effective immediately, one for young Maiden greyhounds with the youngest greyhounds gaining entry first based on age. There will also be a Masters 277m with eligible greyhounds being selected on age with the oldest given first preference. Masters conditions will be the same as races conducted in the Metro area with greyhounds 3¾ years and above eligible.

GRSA strongly recommends trainers nominate for multiple distances to ensure they do not miss out on a run at the meeting.
