Angle Park Preview - 21st May 2020
by The Shadow
With a strong 11 event programme ahead of us tonight races 6 and 7 are the Semis of the 2020 Howard Ashton Feature, both look to be very strong races and will make for a very good Final next week. Sir Truculent can continue on his winning way in the distance affair tonight, we end the night with a couple of 600m events that should make for very interesting racing. All races are Trifecta and First Four and with several full fields on the programme that is where we can get some value.
Race 1 - In recent weeks we have been able to kick start the night with an early winner so we will go with American Man down in box 1, he has been missing the start of late and doing his best work late, he should be a lot closer tonight and take a power of beating. Spring Cobra and Untold for the minors. Box Up 1.2.6.7
Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the night and we will go with Bella Bouchet, she has been runner up at her 3 starts, the wide draw is a bonus and with her early dash she will go close. Sidney’s Star and Springvale Shine are chances along with Paw Me One. Box up 2.4.7.8
Race 3 - We will go with the newcomer Threaten here, the Ex Victorian has 2 wins from 13 along with 7 placings, he is in the Ben Rawlings kennel who are on fire of late. Ainsley Flash has been racing well at Murray Bridge over the short, she is a definite hope for the placings, add the pacey Finniss Reign who won here 2 runs back in quick time. Box Up 2.3.6.8
Race 4 - Sir Truculent has been in outstanding form and carved out a personal best here last week winning by over 10 Lengths in a slick 42.74, he just wins again on that effort. Boom Down is back in SA again and is a chance along with No Surrender. 1 from 2.4.8 boxed
Race 5 - Little Earner gets her chance to break back into the winners circle tonight, she stuck on well here last week when 3rd behind Winlock Huddy, she needs to lead to win. Cairnlea Ebony had a heap of support here last week over the 600m unfortunately for punters she finished down the track, back to the sprint tonight she is one for the Trifecta. Box up 1.2.4.5
Race 6 - This is the 1st of the Semis and we will stick with Maddison Kaye, she won here last week in a slick 29.65 leading throughout from box 3, she looks the likely leader again and will take beating again. Air Marshall ran on well to score in 29.84 and can’t be overlooked, add Long Gully Barny who handles a wide draw. Box Up 2.3.5.8
Race 7 - Coorong Lucy resumed here last week with a 29.79 win from a rails draw, she will only be improved by the run and prove far too good once again. Toora Ziggy has won his past 3 and is in career best form, he is a must for the minors. Spring Burner can add some value to our First Four as he will be running on late. Box up 5.6.7.8
Race 8 - This certainly is a wide open affair, we will go with Sprite Monelli who got us the chocolates here last week in good fashion, he appears to be a handy type and should go close again. Rouge has terrific short course form and can crack the 30 sec barrier here with ease when on song, he is the main danger. Winlock Huddy who won the Grade 5 Final here last week will be running on. Box Up 1.5.6.8
Race 9 - With only the 4 runners engaged will make for an interesting affair, Double By Design has won his last 4 including 3 on the trot over this trip, he has cracked the 35 sec barrier at his past 2 and will be hard to toss again. Two Times Twice has a terrific record and charged late to win over the sprint last start, he is very strong and is the danger. Holy Reign and Tammy Parker won’t be far away. Trifecta in order 3.7.5.1
Race 10 - The Cameron Butcher kennel has another handy type in Yarindale, he has won 5 of his past 6 and looks very hard to beat once again despite the awkward draw. Kisses For Chloe recent form over the short has been 1st class, in the astute kennel of Ray Fewings a win wouldn’t surprise as she could pinch this if able to lead. Fantastic Flame and Lose Your Blues for the First Four. Box Up 2.3.6.8
Race 11 - We head home on a 600m and an eye catching run here last week in tough company was Ask Me Now, he has drawn well tonight and can be on the pace early and is normally very strong. Gemma Nismo has been hit and miss of late, she is a very smart performer when able to lead and should be at each way odds. Fabs You Go and Rev Fred Sloy to round out the First Four. Box Up 1.5.7.8

CLASSIC AND BREEDERS FUTURITY PAYMENTS
Owners of SA Bred greyhounds are reminded that the next batch of Futurity payments are due on Friday, 19th June 2020.
The payments due are:
Classic 2020 – Final Payment (Pups born July 18 to December 18)
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first two Sustaining Payments have been made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.
Breeders 2021 – Second Payment (Pups born January 19 to June 19)
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first Sustaining Payment was made last December. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
With regard to the First Payment for Classic 2021 (Pups born July 19 to December 19) GRSA has decided to delay these payments due to the current environment affected by COVID-19. This series will now only consist of two sustaining payments, First payment of $82.50 ($27.50 + $55) or Final Payment of $121 due Friday, 19th December with the Final Payment due in June 2021 for owners who paid the First Payment in December.
The payments for Classic 2020 and Breeders 2021 are unable to be delayed due to races programmed in August for Classic 2020 and having the First Payments already made for Breeders 2021.
To assist all owners of Futurity eligible pups, reminders will be sent out over the coming days. It is perhaps a good idea to make the payment as soon as you can, so it doesn’t slip your mind and the closing date passes. If you have sold a pup/s we would ask if you can either forward on the information or let Caralyn Fielden know at GRSA and she can follow it up. If you haven’t received a reminder by the end of this month and you think you should have, contact us as soon as possible.
ADMINISTRATION TIME CHANGES
As part of the changes previously advised by GRSA during the COVID-19 pandemic, GRSA have altered their Administration Business hours. Normal Business hours would be 8.30am to 4.30pm, however, from Monday, 4th May these have varied to 8.30am to 3.30pm during this period. This change is part of GRSA’s strategy to reduce costs where it can; in order to help alleviate the downturn in business income.
This will have an effect on scratching closing times and trials being booked. Both will now close at 3pm when they would have normally closed at 4.00pm.
Access to the Office and Telephone calls will only be available up until 3.30pm from Monday to Friday.
This will also have some implications on race books with the change in nomination times and early closing of the office there will only be a one page per race book provided which will also save on costs during this period. All information is still available on the GRSA website.
Due to the reduction in office hours participants need to be mindful when lodging paperwork that the processing time may take longer.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging times.
SCRATCHINGS FOR THOSE MEETINGS THAT CLOSED 4PM THE DAY BEFORE WILL NOW BE 3PM
As advised above trainers please note that scratching’s for ALL meetings that would have closed at 4pm the day before will now close at 3pm the day before.
MURRAY BRIDGE TRIALS
GRSA advise that from March there will no longer be an officiating staff available to clear greyhounds for Satisfactory trials and Qualifying Qualy trials on the fortnightly Tuesday nights at Murray Bridge.
GRSA will send an official to Murray Bridge on a monthly basis on a Friday morning trial session, which has both tracks trialling. This presents an opportunity to also include the Straight Track for Qualifying and Satisfactory Trials. The next trial session will be Friday, 19th June.
NON ESSENTIAL PERSONS ONCOURSE AT RACE MEETINGS
GRSA reminds participants with children that due to the COVID-19 restrictions non essential persons and the public are not allowed oncourse which includes children.
Unfortunately during school holidays this can be difficult for some of our participants to manage however they need to make other arrangements for them.
GRSA appreciates the significant changes in place for the industry during this time and appreciates the efforts that are being made and continue to be made to abide due social distancing and restrictions.
