TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The highlight of tonight’s racing is the 2020 SA Launching Pad final (race 6) on the programme , it is definitely filled with class and the youngsters all have a claim as this is a wide open affair. We also have a 731m on the card along with two 600m events. As usual all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - The two Rasmussen runners look the ones to beat in this, we have been backing both in recent weeks and they have found one better on each occasion, tonight we will go with Boss Three Fifty as he has the gun draw and can lead and win. American Man will be charging late along with Classy Blaze. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 2 - There is a lot of early pace here and we will stick with Cawbourne Cooper who carved across from this draw last start to score in 30.16. Fantastic Pippa found trouble again last week but from the draw should improve, add Springvale Vixen for some value for the First Four. Box up 1.5.7.8

Race 3 - This is the Distance affair of the night and its hard to go past Sir Truculent which has been in good form recently. Springvale Issy and Wooden Tiger for the minors. Box Up 3.1.7.4

Race 4 - The inform runner here is Lillehammer, he has won his last 3 including a 10 Length 29.75 win here last week from box 4, he is hard to tip against on that effort. Artistic Lee has been filling places of late and can do the same again from his rails draw. Soul Rocker and Springvale Arge can run into the First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 5 - This is the 1st of the 600m and the well-drawn Canya Chase should be able to lead and win here, he has a handy record over this trip and looks the measuring stick. Super Blu was a smart winner over the sprint last start and has won in good times over this trip back in Victoria he is certainly the main danger. Box up 1.4.6.8

Race 6 - As mentioned earlier this is a fantastic event with all starters staking their claim, Fantastic Reef should start the punters elect on his recent form with 3 smart wins in as many starts. Shadow Burner is my top pick, I’m hoping he can carve across early from the wide draw and he would take beating if able to lead. Worth A Shout and Fantastic Flame are more than capable of a forward showing. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 7 - Tricky event this one as there looks to be several chances and it will all depend on who leads, Crowdza Jumpin’ has very good form here without winning, she should be right on the pace early and be in the mix. I’m hoping Slippers Away will appreciate the drop in grade, she has been hit and miss of late but is more than capable if she comes out running. Box Up 1.3.5.6

Race 8 - This is another good betting event and we will go with Spring Cuervo down in box 1, he has been well travelled of late and won here 5 starts back in 29.67, he appears a big chance in this. Power Burner has been racing well. Box up 1.2.5.8

Race 9 - The 2nd of the 600m tonight and a good one at that. Holy Reign continues to find one better each week and can run well.  Oakvale Magic is in good form and will be right in the finish. Box Up 1.2.6.8

Race 10 - It would be nice to go home on a winner and I like one at Each Way odds in Step In Style, he has struggled at his past couple but did win 2 on the trot in late January. Nat’s The Boss is making his Angle Park debut, the ex-WA performer has handy short course form and is a chance from the rails, add Dracarys who should just keep improving. Box Up 1.2.3.7

MOUNT GAMBIER THURSDAY MEETINGS TEMPORARILY CANCELLED

As part of GRSA’s strategic response to the Canine Gastroenteritis Thursday meetings at Mount Gambier will be temporarily cancelled.

Nominations for greyhounds that are currently domiciled outside SA will not be allowed until otherwise notified (no exemption will be given for veterinary certification – ie negative to coronavirus). An exemption will be available to interstate trainers (by application) on the condition that they agree not to trial or race in their own state while this policy remains in place. In the event that an interstate nomination has already qualified for the next leg of a series (or a final) in South Australia, that trainer’s dogs will be allowed to race but examined by the on-course veterinarian prior to kennelling.

Noting the particular impact that this will have in the south-eastern region of SA, Thursday meetings at Mount Gambier will temporarily be cancelled – commencing with the one scheduled for March 19 – in an effort to concentrate nominations towards the Sunday meeting’s which will continue.

Details are below -

Delete : Mount Gambier Thursday 19th March 2020 (TAB) Day

Delete : Mount Gambier Thursday 26th March 2020 (TAB) Day

GRSA will continue to monitor on a day to day basis however there may be more deletions in April.

The Mount Gambier Cup series set down for later this month would be in some doubt proceeding where another date and time may need to be investigated.

MURRAY BRIDGE TRIAL CHANGES IN MARCH

In March due to the speedway being conducted on Sundays at Murray Bridge there will be some date changes.

These dates will be Friday 27th March for Murray Bridge and Sunday night for Gawler on 29th March. With this being the case the trial days will be swapped with Gawler trialling on Friday 27th and Murray Bridge trialling on Thursday 26th March.

GRSA also advise that from March there will no longer be officiating staff available to clear greyhounds for Satisfactory trials and Qualifying Qualy trials on the fortnightly Tuesday nights at Murray Bridge.

GRSA will send an official to Murray Bridge on a monthly basis on a Friday morning trial session, which has both tracks trialling. This presents an opportunity to also include the Straight Track for Qualifying and Satisfactory Trials. The trial session for March will be Friday, 20th Mar

ACCELL THERAPY MAT MOVED INTO VET CLINIC

Management has moved the Accell Therapy mat into the Vet Clinic to provide a greater opportunity for it to be used.

It is recommended that a greyhound derives benefit with a 15 to 20 minute session and is generally for recovery from racing or injury. Please do not hesitate to ask when next in the Vet Clinic at GRSA.

ICG MEETING – FRIDAY MARCH 20
