Angle Park Preview 1 Dec 2016
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
The big highlight of tonight’s racing is the Brian Johnstone Feature final which is race 8 on the program and has a massive $25,000 to the winner on offer. The Cameron Butcher kennel has 3 finalists all from the Bekim Bale X Alana Blues litter and look to have a big chance of claiming the major prize. The kennel to follow for mine is Ben Rawlings, he has several runners and they all appear to have strong chances.
Race 1 and as mentioned above the Rawlings kennel can kick off the night with an early winner in Wilba Beast, he is boxed for a bold showing from his rails draw. Penny maker is racing well and has been in the money of late at this venue. Add in Run The Jewels who has early pace. Box Up 1.3.5.7.
Race 2 is a very open affair and I like one at good each way odds in Bekim Fire from the Matcott kennel, he is very slow away but runs on late. Magic Me won on debut over the short here and is worth putting in the trifecta with his early pace. Box Up 1.3.5.7.
Race 3 looks a good trifecta and first 4 race as it is wide open. I will go with another Rawlings runner in Deputy Speaker. He has only had 4 career starts and has shown enough to run a cheeky race in this. Long Gully Jonny has ability and is worth putting in the top 4. Box Up 1.4.5.6
Race 4, this is the distance affair of the night and Danyo’s Tom has been in outstanding form with two wins here on the trot in handy times. Parsec Bale is a lot better than his last start and will be flying home late from his wide draw. Box Up 1.2.7.8.
Race 5, the Rasmussen kennel rarely goes home without a winner and Crisis Bale is right back in grade tonight and with his pace will be very hard to beat. Molly Dobbs has been very hit and miss of late but is more than capable when on song. Box Up 2.3.5.7.
Race 6 - Gun McBain returned to the winners circle at his 130th start with a win here on Monday, he has another mile stone tonight as he is having his 100th start at this track and distance so we will make him our top pick again. Wheel Spinner is the big danger and will be right in the mix, add in Scottish Thistle who will be flying home over the top of them at big odds. Box Up 1.3.4.5.
Race 7 - the pace will come from Fly As One and Marlow Brown in this event. Both will be high balling into the back, Mrs Bubbles and Ruff State are the two that will be running on over the top and look the major players in a very good race. Add in Dyna Keitaro who is another strong type. Box Up 2.4.7.8.
Race 8, This is the big final as mentioned before with a whopping $25,000 to the winner on offer and three of the runners are from the same litter! The early pace will come from the inside three but it is still hard to go past On Fire who has won 8 from his 13 starts, including 3 placings. He is a quality youngster and has a personal best of 29.63 at this venue. Long Gully Gilly is drawn for a bold showing and is in the Kenny Gill kennel. Box Up 1.2.3.5.
Race 9, a very handy 600m event and the two main chances look to be the inform Bogie Bekim and the much improved Zipping Geoff. Both have different racing styles but love the extra distance. Barely’s Rhythm is more than capable on her night and a win wouldn’t be a surprise. Box Up 1.2.7.
Race 10, this is a good betting affair and the punters elect should be Blown Away out in box 7. She loves to run a place and is working towards a win. Gnasher is a pacey type as is the well-drawn Prancer Dancer from box 1 and she gets the nod for mine at each way value. Box Up 1.4.7.8.
Race 11, the final event and we can go home on a winner with the Sharyn Gray trained Tronald Trump down in box 1. He has been showing early pace in recent starts and from the rails can run a cheeky race. Roc The Belvue will be right in the mix as will be Monster Foxy. A big watch on Just As Tough if she gets a run. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

LOCAL NEWS
GAWLER SHIFTED TO ANGLE PARK ON SUNDAY 4TH DECEMBER AND ANGLE PARK WILL RACE ON TUESDAY 6TH DECEMBER
As the new Gawler lure system moves into the testing and commissioning phase, the decision was made to delay the commencement of racing for an additional week. This has resulted in the meetings set down for Sunday 4th December and Tuesday 6th December being transferred to Angle Park.
This decision has made to allow the appropriate level of testing of the lure system to minimise the risk issues associated with the new infrastructure. The reliability of the system is of the utmost importance for the welfare of the greyhounds that will compete behind the lure.
Please note the following in regards to the transferred race meetings:
- Sunday 4th December – Gawler meeting run at Angle Park, non-penalty, trainers can scratch without penalty, finish on lure. The Grade 6 heats will be Non Penalty with the final conducted at Gawler on Sunday 11th December also as Non Penalty in support of participants
- Tuesday 6th December – Angle Park Provincial 2 meeting with Category 2 stakemoney, finish on lure
The revised Gawler schedule in regards to this project is as follows:
- Wednesday 7th December – Trialling (night session)
- Thursday 8th December – Trialling (morning session)
- Sunday 11th December – Race Meeting

An added bonus for racing tonight is the heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup at Albion Park. There are five excellent heats with plenty of depth and class.

GUN MCBAIN REACHES 100 STARTS AT ANGLE PARK OVER 515M
South Australia’s star iron dog Gun McBain for Todd Kelly will reach another milestone when he competes in race 6 tonight at Angle Park. He will be having his 100th start over the 515m journey and he loves the Angle Park loam boasting the impressive record of 36 wins and 32 placings out of those boxes. Having just turned 4 last month he will also be having his 131st start tonight and currently holds the record for the most wins on the Angle Park circuit at 42 however that may be challenged in the next few months by super star chaser Worm Burner for Cameron Butcher who has already won 34 races at Angle Park in his 56 start career.
We wish Gun McBain another safe trip around Angle Park as he raises the bat for a well-made century and hope he continues on his merry way achieving more records.

GRADING UPDATES
The Grading Review Panel met on Friday 11th November to discuss grading in South Australia from an Agenda provided by submissions and industry consultation during the past few months. Following is the main points introduced from 1st December 2016 -
- 12 lifetime wins and 4 wins for Grade 6 Non SA Bred greyhounds. The panel advised to be consistent that the greyhounds should remain in the drawn fields so long as they were eligible at time of nomination. This would be a change for the 4 win Non SA Bred Grade 6 greyhounds who would have normally been withdrawn free of penalty. The panel were supportive of these greyhounds remaining eligible.
- Pathway winners should be included on the Order of Preference. Regardless of the winners time the performance will be considered as a Country win (like Pt Augusta) and thus will sit on the Order of Preference at 13 if a last start Pathway winner.
- The table below is in regard to a Time Standard for Masters Events at different tracks over different distances. The panel agreed to the table and advised that the same conditions for Thursday night be implemented for other meetings when a greyhound equals or breaks the Time Standard being ineligible for a Masters Event at that distance and track. Whilst they do not take a grade they have to have two unplaced runs before being considered for a Masters event.
This refers to the Grade 5 Masters events Only.

Angle Park | 388m | 22.45 | 22.56 | 22.50 |

AGRC MEMBERS LUCKY DOG DRAW

If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win.
