TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

With the Shadow still away our friends at SA.THEDOGS.COM.AU have kindly provided their over view of each of our races again tonight.

Race 1 - Think the strength of CARE FACTOR (2) might be a bit too much for the others to handle here. Returning to an inside draw is a big positive and if he can settle close then he can run over the top late. WOODSIDE FRANKIE (1) was good last week and he should settle close. SUDOKU JAXON (8) is in career best form and is nicely drawn out wide.

Race 2 - A fair bit of unknown here. PAW SHAYNA (5) had a decent trial here last week and she can take this out. ARIA MCLAREN (4) was placed two runs ago and can surprise.

Race 3 - Very competitive race this, quite a few chances. DADDY'S GIRL (6) is so talented and her effort last week was huge. If she can just get some early luck from the draw then she will go close here. MIDNIGHT TOKEN (4) was luckless last week too and he can show enough speed to lead. Hard to rundown. CABAO OPAL (7) is in good form and drawn nicely.

Race 4 - Another really strong field this and there is a few with a good chance in it. Hopefully at some value, SPRINGVALE BRAY (7) goes on top. He is super strong, can get them late if he finds the fence early enough. The draw should work out alright for WOODSIDE JOHNNY (3) who does go a bit wide. MITZI ROCKS (8) could cross over early.

Race 5 - PAUA OF SILENCE (6) can make this draw work tonight. He is tenacious and has speed and strength on his side. Can tag the #5 early. I won't be alone in hoping SUTTON EBONY (1) can score a fitting win here, she can follow through along the inside and get them late. DASH OF BLUE (8) is highly talented and hard to beat with a clear run.

Race 6 - Terrific race this one. AFIRE (2) is a star and he was great last week when overcoming some traffic issues and still proving far too good. Strong and has speed, just needs to settle close. WILD BANKER (3) is flying, he has has speed and runs this trip out well. Chance to lead. ETHANOL EXTRA (4) handles himself well in a field. Can win.

Race 7 - No reason to think FANTASTIC SPIKE (2) doesn't win this. He has been brilliant lately and as long as he gets a clear run early, which he should, then his midrace pace and strength will get him home. YARRAMUNDI PAUL (4) is mighty strong and will find the rails early. DEPARTED (7) showed great pace last week.

Race 8 - Group 3 final here! MALLEE BEAUTY (3) is a top class chaser in waiting and if she nails the start then her speed and strength can see her lead all the way. Can make mistakes from the boxes, that's the worry. DAKOTA RYLEN (7) is lightning early and he does love a wide draw. BEWITCH (5) was incredible last week with a monster run home time.

Race 9 - CANYA EXTREME (4) was awesome last week when putting in a huge run. Slow early but he just worked his way through the field and powered away midrace. Hard to find a reason that he can't win again. ZIPPING WHISKEY (2) is getting closer with every start, just needs to settle close. HIT TOP GEAR (6) is slow early, but more than good enough.

Race 10 - Think that DAINTREE TIGER (3) can prove a bit too fast against these. Been showing great early speed lately and there doesn't appear to be much speed in this race. Should take running down. HE'S MAGIC (4) was awesome last week despite having no luck. Definite player here.

Race 11 - SPIN AND BURN (1) is going really well and if he can just get away from the rail and find the right run, then I would expect him to be too strong for these. PAW WHISPER (2) was solid last and she has speed. Can cross to the lead. NITRO NEO (7) is certainly talented enough, but he does make mistakes in his races.

Race 12 - Never great going with a slow beginner from a wide draw here, but I thought JUBILANT (8) was good last week. Handled himself well when going wide and ran home strongly. This field suits. TERRIFIC LUCY (2) has pace and she should get her chance to jump to the front. KING TOBY (5) is in good form, he just needs some room early.

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP IN DECEMBER
Now in its fourth year, the Festival of Fire is back and bigger than ever in 2024, with a new event added to the two week year end celebration of South Australian greyhound racing.
This year’s series will see The Ember added to the Festival of Fire program and will offer our short course specialists a terrific opportunity to take part in the newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian racing calendar.
Run over the 342m distance, The Ember will see our best 16 nominations take part heading towards a $10,000 Final as part of the Festival of Fire Finals night on Thursday, December 19th.
The Festival of Fire is a year end celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, now across all four distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.
Once again, the ‘Festival of Fire’ series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations for the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event.
There will also be Heats and Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins) running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner. There will also be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that rate towards the end of the Time Grading table.
The Festival of Fire series will commence on the race night of Thursday, December 12, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 14) and then culminate in 6 Finals and a special stayers event carrying a collective purse in excess of $110,000 the following Thursday night (December 19).

• Greyhounds must be SA trained.
• Greyhounds must be in South Australia as of midnight 1st November 2024 to be eligible (First start greyhounds that have not had their first training amendment lodged that are in SA at this time will be eligible). For those greyhounds that have left the state prior to this date, however, are considered SA based on the Nationals criteria of 76 days out of 150 days prior to close of nominations for each event will be eligible but still must be SA trained for the series.

Full program has now been released in kennel capers, online and all tracks December calendar.

COMMENTS ON NOMINATIONS MARKED “ONLY”
A few years ago the Grading Review Panel agreed that some trainers were using the comments box to influence the grading of fields in particular Grade 5 Only for all their greyhounds. The panel previously resolved that “Only” would be disregarded over all distances and the grading left to the Grader. (Masters Only or Juvenile Only will be accepted as this is for a specific type of race) If trainers put “Only or no start or leave me out” then the grader will grade as normal and if a greyhound would be graded into a mixed event based on race wins then he will leave them out based on the trainers request. The more information provided to the Grader allows for him to accommodate those requests.

WINNING GRADE 6 RACES IN ORDER
GRSA reminds trainers to win their grade 6 events in order at a specific venue. For the venues that allow two Grade 6 wins trainers need to win a Grade 6 over one distance and then a Grade 6 over the other distance. If a greyhound wins a Grade 6 and then a Grade 5 then they will lose their Grade 6 over the other distance at that venue.

RE-GRADING FOR ALL TRACKS AND DISTANCES
Re-grading will occur for all tracks and distances for Grade 3 or higher greyhounds. A trainer can apply for a re-grade after two unsuccessful nominations over the corresponding distance. If having met this criteria the responsibility is on the trainer to apply for a re-grade prior to the close of nominations. Only one distance will be considered for a re-grade per meeting.
