Racing News

I hope you all followed last Friday night as we had a huge night on the punt, we picked the winner of the 2022 Anniversary Cup at a lazy 12/1 on course with the bookmakers and several other winners throughout the night. There was a huge crowd and it was a terrific night of racing, let’s hope we can keep the hot run going.

Race 1 - Weblec Blade is boxed to win, he was a last start winner here in 30.83 and will take beating. Cyclone Jane has a good turn of early pace, she can run a cheeky race here. Curious Nick is the improver and must be kept safe. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 2 - This is the Maiden affair of the night and I have gone with On The Whiskey’s who showed pace at her debut when a fading 4th, she should strip fitter here and looks the leader. Spring Monica is knocking on the door, she has been runner up here at her past couple and will go very close. Add Harry who was pipped on the post here last Friday. Box Up 4.5.7.8

Race 3 - Fantastic Radley looks a special, he returned from a stint in NSW and ventured to Murray Bridge on his return and treated his rivals with contempt winning by 7L, he is a class act and will take beating. Sutton Sandy and Victa Reid can fill the placings. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 4 - This looks wide open and I have gone with the Kirin Corby trained Foreshadow who has only had the two runs, he is a handy type and is drawn for a bold showing. Acclaimed can mix his form, the good draw brings him right into this. Garry’s Chaos was a last start winner here and has a good turn of early pace, he can figure in the money again. Box Up 1.2.8.7

Race 5 - Mallee Magic is in outstanding form, he won the Anniversary Cup here last week from box 5 and is the one to beat here again tonight. Don’t Tell Bluey is the danger, he has the good draw and early pace and can run quick times. Threaten has early pace. Box Up 1.3.4.7

Race 6 - This is over the Distance and Lashes Monelli found a heap of trouble here in the Distance Final, she is working back to her best form and is well drawn. Weblec Star stormed home to win the 2022 Distance Final and has won her last five here. Add Victa Haydn who was pipped on the post last run. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 7 - I like one here at odds as it is a wide open affair in Cruze Maguire, he is a strong type who will be running on and hopefully can be close early. Air Outlaw is a strong performer as is Zinfandel Oompa who has a good turn of early pace. Box Up 1.5.6.7

Race 8 – My selection here is Departure Gate who has been in outstanding form at Mount Gambier, he has won his last four all in quick times including the Cup and has been placed here in the past. Teddy The Bear has early pace and can figure along with High Octane. Box Up 3.4.7.8

Race 9 - Kinrock Star will give us heart failure early, he gets a long long way back in his races but has a huge amount of talent and will be very hard to beat over this trip. Mr. Ibrox will be running on strongly as will Kingsville Flyer. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 10 - Zambora Lion looks a chance from the draw, he has had only the two starts here in SA since arriving from WA and should improve. Sutton Daisy will be very hard to toss, she has a heap of early pace and with the small field should cross. Add Wooden Tiger who will be running on. Box Up 1.4.6.8

Race 11 - Zinfandel Bart is resuming from a lengthy spell, he hasn’t raced since last December and is sure to sprint well fresh as he is a more than handy sprinter. Our Boy Jake has been on the improve and is well boxed, add Springvale Rex who loves to run a place. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 12 - Hopefully Sambuca Talks can send us home with cash in the pocket, he looks the leader with moderate beginners on his inside. Air Pumbaa will be running on strongly from the draw as will Mary Bridget who has good Mount Gambier form. Box Up 1.2.5.8

BREEDERS SUPPORT PROGRAM – IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM JULY 1

At the most recent ICG meeting our local breeding numbers were discussed. After considering how many litters are currently being bred the panel decided to make an alteration to how many Breeders Rebates will be available each financial year. For any Breeder Rebate application lodged (at Litter Registration time) from July 1 2022 to June 30 2023, GRSA will only rebate two Litters fully and if there is a third one this will be at half price rebate. If a Breeder has a fourth litter there will be no claim available. It will be upto the Breeder to determine which 2 ½ Litters they would like the Breeders Support Claim for in the 12 month period. Please contact Racing Manager Shaun Mathieson at GRSA for further information.

Below are the current Breeders Support Conditions -

Details regarding the Breeders Support Program for litters registered in SA.

It is crucial that GRSA receives receipts for actual and verifiable expenses relating to litters whelped for items below or else no support payment can be provided: Claims will be a Maximum of $2,000 with FSI and Pup payment in addition.

*In the event that the 1st payment of the SA Bred Scheme is claimed as a component of the rebate, those pups will automatically be registered in the scheme with only the 2nd and 3rd payments still required.

**The limit of the support as it relates to the (50%) contribution to the stud/sire fee component is equivalent to the full support value of $2,000. The limit of the support as it relates to ‘other’ expenses is $1,000. Excluded expenses include veterinary (pre-conception), rearing, breaking in or pre-training costs.**
