VACCINATION RULE FOR RACING IN SA
Trainers are reminded that Rule 25 (Minimum Vaccination Requirements) took effect Monday, 1st May, Vaccination Certificates must be received by GRSA prior to close of nominations for affected greyhounds to be considered eligible.

GAWLER FRIDAY 10TH NOVEMBER –

NOMINATIONS CLOSE THIS MONDAY

The nominations for Gawler meeting next Friday, 10th November will close at 9am on Monday rather than the normal Tuesday. This is due to Grading staff being unavailable on the Tuesday.

On Monday nominations for Angle Park Thursday and Mt Gambier Thursday along with Gawler Friday will close at 9am.

On Wednesday nominations for the Mt Gambier Sunday meeting will move to Wednesday and close at the same time as the Murray Bridge Sunday meeting at 9am.

2023 LEIGH ROGERS GRADE 6 FEATURE FINAL TONIGHT

Five terrific heats of the 2023 Leigh Rogers Grade 6 Feature were conducted last Thursday night with the box draw for the $14,275 Final conducted on track.

GRSA introduced this race onto the feature race calendar six years ago in recognition of former long time Food and Beverage Manager, Leigh Rogers, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer seven years ago. Leigh is the husband of Rachel and father of three young girls (not so young anymore) and it will be great to see them, extended family and work colleagues oncourse tonight in recognition of Leigh.

GROUP 3 BRIAN JOHNSTONE HEATS – NOMINATIONS CLOSE ON MONDAY

After the second Classic 2023 Prelude Final was run a few weeks ago, attention has swung to the rich Brian Johnstone Series. The Group 3 series is the main event of the Classic 2023 Futurity.

The $3,700 Heats for the Brian Johnstone will be run next Thursday, 9th November at Angle Park, followed by the $4,500 Semi Finals on Thursday, 16th November and the $37,500 Final on Thursday, 23rd November.

Nominations for the Heats close with GRSA at 9.00am on Monday, 6th November

LOW GRADE SERIES AT ANGLE PARK NEXT WEEK

The next Low Grade Feature Series at Angle Park will be a Mixed 4/5 series over the 595m with $4,560 Heats on Thursday, 9th November and the $5,535 Final on Thursday, 16th November.

Nominations for the Heats close Monday, 6th November at 9.00am.

KURT DONSBERG ON THURSDAY NIGHTS IN NOVEMBER AT ANGLE PARK

GRSA advise that our oncourse photographer Kurt Donsberg will be taking a break in November from his current contract of meetings however he will continue to attend the Angle Park Thursday nights to accommodate the feature events at that venue.

GRSA is currently working through options at the other venues to accommodate Kurt not attending where possible. As previously advised if there is no oncourse photographer at the meeting then please liaise with the stewards if you wish to take photo after the race event.

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP ANGLE PARK IN DECEMBER

GRSA will continue to support local participants in December when the Festival of Fire series of races are conducted. GRSA is thrilled to conduct for the third year, the Festival of Fire series, our newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian greyhound racing calendar.

The “Festival Of Fire, series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations for the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m, and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event. There will be heats and final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner. Again this year there will be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that rate towards the end of the Time Grading table.

The Festival of Fire is an end of year celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, across all three distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.

The Festival of Fire series will commence on the racenight of Thursday December 14, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 16) and then culminate in 5 finals and a special stayers event carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 21).

Conditions –

• Greyhounds must be SA trained.

• Greyhounds must be in South Australia as of midnight 1st November 2023 to be eligible (greyhounds that have not had their first training amendment lodged that are in SA at this time will be eligible). For those greyhounds that have left the state prior to this date however are considered SA based on the Nationals criteria of 76 days out of 150 days prior to close of nominations for each event will be eligible.

• All races will be Non Penalty

If Same Time Rating Most Race Wins Go In And Then Most Prizemoney Go In And Then By Graders Discretion).

THE FLAME (530M) – Lowest Ranked 32 Nominated On Time Rating – With Reserves - Maidens Are Ineligible – Maximum Four Heats Guarding Applies. Selection Of Heats Will Be Guarded And Separated Under Normal Heat And Final Rules. If Same Time Rating Greyhounds With The Least Race Wins Go In Then The Least Amount Of Prizemoney Go In And Then By Graders Discretion. Greyhounds Must Have Had Atleast One Race Start Over 455m Or Further In The Last 3 Months Prior To Close Of Nominations To Be Eligible.

GAP NIGHT – THURSDAY 9TH NOVEMBER
Greyhounds As Pets will have their GAP night on Thursday, 9th November which include GAP Parades and recognise those persons who put so much time and effort in for the retired and adopted greyhounds. Also featuring on the night will be an Open event over the 530m journey worth $5,535.


GOTBA COURSING AWARDS NIGHT – THURSDAY 16TH NOVEMBER
GOTBA will present their Annual Awards at Angle Park on Thursday, 16th November.  To be presented at the dais will be the SA Coursing Trainer of the Year and SA Coursing Greyhound of the Year. 

Also featuring on the night will be a Free For All event for greyhounds which competed at Virginia during 2023.  The race is supported by GOTBA and carries prizemoney of $5,535.

Nominations for this event close with GRSA at 9.00am on Monday, 13th November

DUAL LURE TO BE TRIALLED AT ANGLE PARK ON TUESDAY NIGHTS

As advised in last months Kennel Capers, a dual lure will be trialled at Angle Park on Tuesday nights until sufficient trialling has taken place to determine the positives and negatives of the dual lure at our venues.

To manage this process trainers will need to book trials as normal. GRSA will allocate timeslots 7.15pm to 7.40pm and 7.40pm to 8.05pm each Tuesday meaning we will be trialling up to 20 trials each Tuesday night. Having two blocks of time this will assist trial staff manage the changing of the lure etc.

When booking online please book as normal in these slots and it will be assumed that you want to trial on the dual lure. If a trainer does not want to trial on the dual lure then please book in different time slots.

When ringing up to book a trial please advise staff if you want to book a dual lure trial, bearing in mind there is only 20 trials and once gone there will not be anymore until the following week.

Bookings for trials open for next Tuesday at 11.30am on Monday

ONLINE NOMINATIONS UPDATED WITH VACCINATION DETAILS OF GREYHOUNDS

OzChase have update the currency of the Greyhound’s vaccination and it is displayed within Online Nominations. Each Greyhound on the Currently Trained list of a trainer will include a new column displaying the latest vaccination date recorded. It will be colour coded.

 **** Previously nominations have still been accepted, however, for meetings scheduled from 1st October if the greyhound does not have a current Vaccination recorded, the Online Nomination system will block the nomination from being accepted. Please ensure all vaccination paperwork is updated with GRSA to ensure nominations can be accepted****
