TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Tonight we have a 12-event program with the highlight being 6 heats of the Leigh Rogers over the 530m races (3 to 8 ), they appear very open so they will make for good betting races. We have a 730m later in the night race 11, remember all events are Trifecta and First Four events and let's try and build a bank for the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.

Race 1
- I will stick with Bobby Axelrod down in box 1, he has been very good to us in recent runs winning his last three and from the draw is the one to beat again. Charlee’s Misty has acquitted herself at Gawler in recent runs, she won a heat of the Gawler Cup and then led in the final to run 3rd she is the danger. Box Up 1.3.5.8

Race 2 - The Maiden of the night and Victa Speed is knocking on the door, he has been runner-up here at his past two and with his early pace is the one to catch. Jackie Keeping is the danger along with Basso’s Girl who will be running on strongly. Box up 1.2.4.8

Race 3 - This is the 1st of 6 heats and Spring High Low is drawn to rail the ears off from box 1, she goes well from this draw and will be very hard to toss. Spring Monica blew the start here last week and rattled home to finish 2nd she is the danger. Add Wishing You who has been placed here in two of her three runs. Box Up 1.2.3.4

Race 4 - Victa Damian looks to be the best youngster here in SA at the moment on both his starts, he won here last run in 30.27 by over 7L when leading throughout from box 7 and will take the power of beating again. Finniss Surprise is well drawn and has been placed here at his past two. 4 from 1.7.8 boxed.

Race 5 - The inside two look the better chances here Yarramundi Paul and Basil Brush Rose both can be slow early and will be running on strongly. Emerley Spicy has been in the money here in three of her five runs and should be a must for the trifecta punter. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 6 - Elegant Bix is another handy pup, he has been in the money in his five career starts and does show an early pace, he is my top selection in this. Spring Honour and Orson Katie are both racing well and can give this a big shake Box Up 2.4.7.8

Race 7 - This is a toughie as several runners are stepping up to the 530m here tonight Magic Poppet is one of them and is drawn to kick up and go to the front from the good draw. Spring Ignite along with Emerley Wiggum have claims. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 8 - The last of the heats and Zipping Daria is a run-on type, she has been placed here in three of her four starts and gets her chance to break through in this. Mr Anderson along with Bedrock Will have chances from their good draws. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 9 - Molly Irish has been very good to us in recent weeks winning her past two for us she is drawn to take a beating again. Lektra Teddy was very impressive when winning here last run in 30.54 he has a good turn of early pace and is a massive chance again. Lot Of Poise in my roughie here. Box Up 1 .3.4.6

Race 10 - Jax Bale should appreciate the small field here, he can show early pace and is the one they will have to beat. Scorching Sun is a strong type he was the last start winner at Mount Gambier in quick time and from the draw is the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 11 - We are over the distance here and Vega Black has won his past two here over this trip he looks like the leader again and winning form is good form. Chatting is racing well and has been runner-up here at her past two, add Blue By You for the Trifecta. (the Trengove kennel is a certainty to win here ) 3.7.1.5 for $1

Race 12 - I love going home on a winner and Propelled will be very hard to beat, he should get a clear run from the draw and prove too strong in the run home. French Wish is the leader she was the last start winner here when leading throughout and is the danger with a bit of early luck. Box Up 1.2.7.8

2022 LEIGH ROGERS GRADE 6 FEATURE HEATS TONIGHT
There are 6 heats of the Leigh Rogers Grade 6 feature tonight to be run over the 530m journey with some of the best young local talent looking to qualify for next Thursday's $14,275 Final on 3rd November. The series has been extremely well supported by the industry and exciting prospects Victa Damien, Zipping Daria, Spring High Low and Yarramundi Paul will all be top chances in their heats to qualify.
With 6 heats the winners and the two fastest second-placegetters will qualify for next week's final. The box draw will be conducted on the course tonight after the running of race 9.
GRSA introduced this race onto the feature race calendar five years ago in recognition of former long-time Food and Beverage Manager, Leigh Rogers, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer six years ago. Leigh is the husband of Rachel and father of three young girls (not so young anymore) and it will be great to see them on the course in recognition of Leigh next week.
