We have another massive night of racing ahead of us tonight, the highlight is the 2024 TAB All Stars Match Race series (race 3 ), I went with Excavation who is in the powerful Jason Thompson Kennel, he won at Sandown late in August running 29.13 and a repeat effort here would take beating and win his way through to the prestigious Adelaide Cup Final in October. I love this series as we often see a couple of surprises.

VACCINATION RULE FOR RACING IN SA – REMINDER
Trainers are reminded that Rule 25 (Minimum Vaccination Requirements) took effect Monday, 1stMay, 2023. Vaccination Certificates must be received by GRSA prior to close of nominations for affected greyhounds to be considered eligible for nominating. It is also imperative that once the greyhound has been vaccinated the paperwork is lodged by yourself as soon as possible. Trainers are also reminded that they must not have their greyhound vaccinated within 5 days of racing. Should this occur, the greyhound will be scratched from its engagement or if paperwork lodged after an engagement and discovered the greyhound raced inside the 5 days then the matter will be referred to the stewards.

2024 TAB MATCH RACE CHALLENGE – SA V ALLSTARS
Tonight the 2024 TAB Match Race Challenge (SA V Allstars) will be conducted as race 3 on the program with the first Match race due to start at 7.20pm (SA time), Match 2 at 7.28pm, Match 3 at 7.36pm and Match 4 at 7.44pm. We have some of the best greyhounds from Interstate taking on SA’s best in one on one racing.
TAB and Sky Racing have been very supportive of this series. TAB have markets open on Head to Head winners and overall winners. Matches will be on Sky 1 (1 and 4) and Sky 2 (2 and 3) so please check the coverage so you don’t miss a moment. GRSA will again show live footage of the greyhounds inside the boxes, looking from behind the greyhounds, as they get ready to race and just after the start which will be very exciting and has been well received by participants and patrons alike.
All Matches come out of boxes 1 & 3.

Prizemoney for each Match will be range between $4,750 and $4,000 with unplaced $1,000 for each Match dependent upon the rating of each match up. Overall TAB Match Race Challenge winner (based on overall time to three decimal places only) will be $7,500, second $2,500, third $1,000.
GRSA will still guarantee the winner of the TAB Match Race Challenge direct entry into the $100,000 to the winner Group 1 Adelaide Cup Final on Friday, 11th October (bypassing the Adelaide Cup Heats). The winner of the Match Race series is considered qualified for the Group 1 Adelaide Cup and will not be eligible to compete in another series. (If there is a dead heat for the overall win then all will be guaranteed a spot in the Adelaide Cup)

SOLO TRIALS TONIGHT IN PREPARATION FOR ADELAIDE CUP HEATS NEXT WEEK
Tonight we have two solo trials in preparation for our Adelaide Cup Heats next week to be run in between our races.
After the running of race 1 tonight, Alpha Zulu for trainer Jason Thompson will trial over 530m. He is a winner of 19 of his 46 starts and prizemoney around $310k and a last start winner at Sandown over 515m in 29.57 on a wet track. He has won multiple Group 2 events and been placed multiple times at Group 1 level so his class is outstanding.
After race 2 we will see Victorian Fernando Phil trial for trainer Michelle Mallia strutting his stuff. He is a winner of 14 of his 42 starts with prizemoney in excess of $180,000. He won at Sandown three runs ago in 29.45 and in March took out the Group 2 Horsham Cup defeating a hot line up so he would be expected to go well tonight as he prepares for next weeks Group 1 series.
2024 TAB ADELAIDE CUP TO RACE ON FRIDAY 11TH OCTOBER
Thanks to the support of Greyhound Racing New South Wales this year, South Australia will be able to run our premier Group 1 meeting on Friday, 11th October. SA will swap meetings with NSW so we can race in the evening, and we will have full Sky 1 coverage for this meeting.
Murray Bridge will race on the Thursday night before the Cup (10th October) retaining our normal night time Sky 1 slot. Murray Bridge Straight track will run a Full Time Graded meeting on the Saturday morning after the Adelaide Cup (12th October) to accommodate necessary clean up after the night.
GRSA is very appreciative of GRNSW for assisting us this year with this scheduling change which would not have happened without their support.

The overall winner of the SA Match Race (SA V Allstars) series will be guaranteed a spot in the Group 1 Adelaide Cup on Friday, 11th October. This greyhound will not be eligible to compete in the Heats on Thursday, 3rd October.
There will be a Consolation for the Adelaide Cup worth $14,275 on Cup night along with the $8,500 Country Cup Final. The $15,250 Premier’s Cup over the 730m will also be conducted on Adelaide Cup Final night for the stayers.
HEATS CLASSIC 2024 PRELUDE (2) AT ANGLE PARK IN OCTOBER
The $3,700 Heats of Classic 2024 Prelude (2) will be run on Monday, 7th October with the $4,500 Final on Thursday, 17th October over the 530m. For SA Bred greyhounds whelped July 22 to December 22 and paid up for Classic 2024.

SA BREEDERS SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Breeders Support Claim which has been increased to a maximum of $5,500 per litter will apply to all SA bred and whelped litters where the mating took place on or after April 1, 2024. Breeders will be able to claim from a wider variation of breeding costs including stud fees, veterinary and transport, vaccination costs and whelping costs. Please see the breakdown below for Breeders who are looking at breeding their next litter. Claims will be processed upon receipt of the Litter Registration form and Claim form.
