VACCINATION RULE FOR RACING IN SA
Trainers are reminded that Rule 25 (Minimum Vaccination Requirements) took effect Monday, 1st May, Vaccination Certificates must be received by GRSA prior to close of nominations for affected greyhounds to be considered eligible.

2023 LEIGH ROGERS GRADE 6 FEATURE HEATS TONIGHT
There are 5 heats of the Leigh Rogers Grade 6 feature tonight to be run over the 530m journey with some of the best young local talent looking to qualify for next Thursdays $14,275 Final on 2nd November. The series has been extremely well supported by the industry and exciting prospects Zinfandel Evie, Fantastic Ada, Get Up Jimmy, Top Cadillac and Lost At Sea are all top chances in their heats to qualify.
With 5 heats the winners and the three fastest second placegetters will qualify for next weeks final. The box draw will be conducted oncourse tonight after the running of race 8.
GRSA introduced this race onto the feature race calendar six years ago in recognition of former long-time Food and Beverage Manager, Leigh Rogers, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer seven years ago. Leigh is the husband of Rachel and father of three young girls (not so young anymore) and it will be great to see them and family and friends on course in recognition of Leigh next week.
2023 GAWLER GOLD CUP FINAL THIS SUNDAY
After four Heats were conducted on Monday night we have an outstanding field assembled for the Final on Sunday night, 29th October at our Northern track. Heat winners were Agent Nine Nine 30.60, Springvale Bray 30.40, Who Knows Darren 30.73 and Velocity Zaylia 30.96. The $36,000 2023 Group 3 Gawler Gold Cup Final over 531m will be race 8 and due to start at 8.09pm. Gawler Cup box draw listed below -

Also featured on the night will be the $8,000 Gawler Sprint Classic Final, after three Heats on Monday, the winners were Cash On Delivery 22.63, Go Go Snow 22.51 and Universal Value 22.56. This will be race 3 on the program due to start at 6.24pm.
We also have featured on the night the $8,500 Bothing Gawler Stayers Cup Final, after two Heats on Monday night, the winners were Springvale Rex 37.39 and Zipping Neutron 36.92 (Bothings track record set in 2006 was 36.81). This will be race 4 on the program due to start at 6.47pm.
“Bothing” was nicely bred being by Carlisle Jack out of Which Wire, owned by Andrew Lee, Brett Smith and Alexander Calabria and trained by Bosco Stamenkovic. In the year of 2006 there was no better stayer in the country after he won the National Distance Championship at Launceston in Tasmania over the 720m where he established a new track record of 42.49 and won by almost 5 lengths. He also currently holds the Gawler 643m track record which he set 17 years ago running an amazing 36.81 and won by almost 18 lengths, with few greyhounds getting close to this mark over the last decade and a half. He won the State Final of the National Distance, he was named SA Staying Greyhound of the Year and showed he could sprint as well, winning a Heat of the SA St Leger before finishing third in the Final. His best time over the 515m at Angle Park was 29.30 while he ran 43.06 over the 731m, he also won at Wentworth Park in 42.72 over the 720m.
His career ended with 17 wins and 7 placings from only 30 lifetime starts with earnings around $82,000 in prizemoney.
We also have the $4,000 Gawler Cup Consolation for those greyhounds that didn’t quite make the Group 3 Final which will be race 6 on the program due to start at 7.24pm which features Agent Nineteen, Zipping Digby and Dash Of Blue.
GROUP 3 BRIAN JOHNSTONE HEATS NEXT MONTH
After the second Classic 2023 Prelude Final was run and won last Thursday night, attention will swing to the rich Brian Johnstone Series. The Group 3 series is the main event of the Classic 2023 Futurity.
The $3,700 Heats for the Brian Johnstone will be run on Thursday, 9th November at Angle Park, followed by the $4,500 Semi Finals on Thursday, 16th November and the $37,500 Final on Thursday, 23rd November.

LOW GRADE SERIES AT ANGLE PARK
The next Low Grade Feature Series at Angle Park will be a Mixed 4/5 series over the 595m with $4,560 Heats on Thursday, 9th November and the $5,535 Final on Thursday, 16th November.
Nominations for the Heats close Monday, 6th November at 9.00am.
GAP NIGHT – THURSDAY 9TH NOVEMBER
Greyhounds As Pets will have their GAP night on Thursday, 9th November which include GAP Parades and recognise those persons who put so much time and effort in for the retired and adopted greyhounds. Also featuring on the night will be an Open event over the 530m journey worth $5,535.
GOTBA COURSING AWARDS NIGHT – THURSDAY 16TH NOVEMBER
GOTBA will present their Annual Awards at Angle Park on Thursday, 16th November. To be presented at the dais will be the SA Coursing Trainer of the Year and SA Coursing Greyhound of the Year.
Also featuring on the night will be a Free For All event for greyhounds which competed at Virginia during 2023. The race is supported by GOTBA and carries prizemoney of $5,535.

TO MBGRC REGISTERED TRAINER MEMBERS
The MBGRC Committee wish to advise the MBGRC Registered Trainer Members that you must book your trials otherwise you may be disappointed when the Murray Bridge Greyhound racing track staff refuse to trial your greyhounds. Being a dual track facility, the Murray Bridge track staff require prior notification advising names of trainers booked for trials, at what time and on which track.
There is still a few MBGRC Registered Trainers yet to pay this year’s (2023/2024) members renewal fee, trainers who are not members of the MBGRC are required to pay $10 for each trial.

DUAL LURE TO BE TRIALLED AT ANGLE PARK ON TUESDAY NIGHTS
As advised in last months Kennel Capers, a dual lure will be trialled at Angle Park on Tuesday nights until sufficient trialling has taken place to determine the positives and negatives of the dual lure at our venues.
To manage this process trainers will need to book trials as normal. GRSA will allocate timeslots 7.15pm to 7.40pm and 7.40pm to 8.05pm each Tuesday meaning we will be trialling up to 20 trials each Tuesday night. Having two blocks of time this will assist trial staff manage the changing of the lure etc.
When booking online please book as normal in these slots and it will be assumed that you want to trial on the dual lure. If a trainer does not want to trial on the dual lure then please book in different time slots.
When ringing up to book a trial please advise staff if you want to book a dual lure trial, bearing in mind there is only 20 trials and once gone there will not be anymore until the following week.

ONLINE NOMINATIONS UPDATED WITH VACCINATION DETAILS OF GREYHOUNDS
OzChase have update the currency of the Greyhound’s vaccination and it is displayed within Online Nominations. Each Greyhound on the Currently Trained list of a trainer will include a new column displaying the latest vaccination date recorded. It will be colour coded.
**** Previously nominations have still been accepted, however, for meetings scheduled from 1st October if the greyhound does not have a current Vaccination recorded, the Online Nomination system will block the nomination from being accepted. Please ensure all vaccination paperwork is updated with GRSA to ensure nominations can be accepted****
