TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

We have another exciting 12 event program ahead of us tonight with the highlight being (Race 8) the 2022 Brian Johnstone feature with $25,000 to the winner on offer which is very open with the two favorites from last week being the reserves as they failed to qualify. Well done to Vadim Roz for getting 3 runners through to tonight’s final. As always all races are Trifecta and First Four and we had a handy night on the punt here last Thursday and tonight hopefully is no different.

Race 1 - Springvale Roxy can start our night on the front foot, she has a good turn of early pace and looks the likely leader, she has a handy record here and is my top selection. Kruger Lass is one that will be running on she will need luck to cross from the wide draw but is amongst the main chances. Box up 1.4.7.8

Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the evening and Ricolina Babe was a handy 2nd here 1st up from interstate, she should be improved by the run and is one for the trifecta punter. Sayua is 1st up from Victoria now in the Steve Brook kennel with 4 placings from 7 runs and placed at her last three she should be in the mix. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 3 - Spring Pony was a very close 2nd here last Thursday from box 1, he only needs to begin and stay out of trouble to break through. Ambrose Bale is racing well winning two of his last three here and is the danger. Add Maestro Luke for the minors. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 4 - Victa Reid is my selection here he loves the wide draws and continues to run handy times, he looks very hard to beat again. Springvale Maddi returned to the winners circle with a win at Murray Bridge over the short, she goes well here and is the danger. Victa Emma is well drawn and is a place chance. Box Up 1.4.6.8

Race 5 - The Gavin Harris kennel have a couple of good chances throughout the night and Springvale Rex has early pace and is a chance of jumping straight to the front here, he can run time and is the one to beat. Spring High Low has the good draw and is the improver. Box up 1.3.5.7

Race 6 - Springvale Jess has only had the 10 starts for a win and 6 placings, she can handle the wide draw and as this is wide open she can give this a big shake. Jezzali and Spring Monica are chances for the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 - There is a heap of early pace in this so it makes for a handy race to have a First Four in, the main chances look to be Rosie’s No Angel who has been in the money in recent runs and has early pace. Gondola was a last start winner at Gawler over the 400m when leading throughout she has been placed here in the past and is amongst the better chances. Box Up 2.3.5.6

Race 8 - This is the $25,000 to the winner Final and I like one at each way odds in Yarramundi Paul who has the good draw of 1, he ran home well to score here last week from well back and has been in the money at his last five here. Finniss Redeem can show early pace and must be respected. Spring Honour is another who has good box speed and the draw of 7 won’t be a bother. Add Machismo who lacks early pace and will be running on strongly. Box Up 1.3.4.7

Race 9 - We are over the730m here and Mr. Ibrox was far too good for them last week when winning leading throughout, he should do the same again in this. Chatting continues to run into the money, she is well drawn and looks another chance for the trifecta punter. Zipping Nebraska will be improved by the run here last week and is 3rd up from a spell. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 10 - Scorching Sun is our top pick in this, he has won three of his last four and is very strong, he should be hard to beat here again. The old fellow Sentinel McLaren is well drawn and will be doing his best work late, he is a must for the top three. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 11 - With only the six runners its still a wide betting event, the main chances look to be the inside three. Panorama who is very quick early Orson Katie who was a last start winner from this draw and is very consistent and Zipping Chew who is resuming from a short spell. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 12 - Molly Irish has been beaten at her past couple here when starting the punters elect, she can bounce back in this and lead throughout. Slipper’s Tick is well drawn and is the danger. Dozing and Jessore for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.8

2023 GAWLER PRODUCE STAKES – NOMINATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW (FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER)

The 2022 Gawler Produce Stakes will be run by GRSA in conjunction with the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club.

Once again we will offer guaranteed Final stakemoney of $22,000. The estimate for the total series prizemoney is $40,000, based on this years series. The series is for greyhounds whelped in 2021.

In 2023 we will again be offering additional incentives for trainers to nominate. A bonus will be offered to any greyhound which can win both the Produce Stake and the Gawler Gold Cup.

The jackpot has increased from $10,000 to $11,000 as Springvale Max missed out on winning the Gawler Gold Cup this year after running fourth in his Heat and not qualifying for the Final.

The SA Bred bonus will also be continued; should the winner of the Final be SA Bred, there will be an SA Bred bonus of $1,000 to the owner and $500 to the breeder.

The series will be in June with the Final on Sunday, 25th June 2023. (Pending alterations)

GRSA administers the event for the Club, so all payments are to be made to GRSA. The fees are, one-off payment option $121.00 or the sustaining option of $33 (first), $55 (second) and $88 (Final).

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP ANGLE PARK IN DECEMBER

GRSA will continue to support local participants in December when the Festival of Fire series of races are conducted. GRSA is thrilled to conduct for the second year, the Festival of Fire series, the newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian greyhound racing calendar.

The “Festival Of Fire, series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations over the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event. There will be Heats and a Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner. There will be a change in that the second 595m event will be removed and the main 595m event has been increased from the best 12 greyhounds to best 16 greyhounds. Taking the place of the second 595m event will be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that have the highest time rating.

The Festival of Fire is an end of year celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, across all three distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.

The Festival of Fire series will commence on the racenight of Thursday, December 15, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 17) and then culminate in 5 Finals and a special stayers event with all Finals carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 22). The Board has resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model. This means that the majority of the stakemoney for the series will be additional to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to industry through the WAP model.

Conditions –

• Greyhounds must be SA trained. • All races will be Non Penalty

• Greyhounds must be in South Australia as of midnight 1st November 2022 to be eligible (unraced greyhounds that have not had their first training amendment lodged that are in SA at this time will be eligible).
