TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

The highlight of tonight’s racing is the final of the 2022 Bayroad Queen feature over the 730m (race 6) on the program, it is well worth winning with $10,000 to the winner and it is a very handy field with a heap of chances. We have been in good form of late with our tipping and we hope we can continue with our recent efforts as always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - We start the night over the 530m and the well-drawn Springvale Roxy looks very hard to beat, she has won her last four here and Gawler and is the one they will have to catch. Fantastic Dixie was a last start winner here in 30.55 and is the danger. Mo Slater along with Whiskey Soda for the First Four. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the night and with several scratchings it leaves us with four runners, Fabrizio is the one they have to beat, he has the room to move early and is our top pick. She’s Blushing along with Sizzle And Shine is the trifecta. 2.8.5.7 in order for a $1

Race 3 - Dashing Wilma is our pick here, she is dropping back to the 530m here tonight as her recent racing has been over the distance, if she can be handy early she will be hard to beat. The dangers are On The Tequila who is very handy and Redeem A Prize who is a chance of leading. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 4 - Razzle Darryl is knocking on the door, he has been racing against a lot stronger company in recent runs and is drawn to give this a big shake from the good draw. Scorching Sun is another who is very close to a win he has been in the money in his last five and must be respected. Zinfandel Nikki is one for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 5 - I tipped Gemtree Apollo last week and he showed pace only to miss a place, he HOPEFULLY can jump to the front here and pinch this at each way odds. Terrific Tyla along with Mr. Ibox are chance despite their draws. Box Up 1.3.4.8

Race 6 - This is the final of the 2022 Stayers Cup and with $10,000 to the winner, I will stay with Victa Haydn who has been very consistent of late and has been in the money at his last five runs here all over this trip, he can bounce back here tonight. Beck’s Monelli was a nice win here last week in 42.79 and is the big danger. Run Like Jess and Weblec Star are chances if luck goes their way early in the run. Box Up 3.4.5.6.

Race 7 - Sutton Ebony is the form runner here, she has only had the two starts here in SA with a perfect record and has the pace to cross and lead. Bella’s Flower has early pace and is well drawn and is amongst the chances. Archman is very slow early and will be running on strongly. Box up 1.2.4.8

Race 8 - This is over the 595m and Giant’s Flash has been in good form winning his past two here in good times, he has the pace to cross and will take a power of beating again. Locked is drawn to kick up early from the good draw and can run time when on song. Aston Alpha can add some vale if you are having a First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 9 - Don’t Tell Bluey has been in terrific form winning his last five here all in open grade in good times, the Harris kennel have him in fine form and he will take a power of beating again. Sunset Toxic is the danger, he has been in the money here in 11 of his 13 starts and has early pace. Express Speed can pinch a place. 4.6.2.8 for $1

Race 10 - Jessore landed some good wagers here last week when winning his Maiden from box 4, he has a good turn of early pace and will be hard to beat if he finds the front early. Agent Four can be hit and miss on lid rise and is a chance despite the draw. Miss Scallywags and Nugget McLaren for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 11 - There are only six runners here and it is still a wide open affair, Flash Banner is my pick here at each way odds if she is near right she can lead and win. Spring Illusion is racing well and has the good draw he will be running on and is amongst the better chances. Dark Tides and Nangar Ellie for the minors. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 12 - The last of the night and I am hoping that Zinfandel Oompa can skip to the front and pinch this from box two, she is a feather weight of 23KGS and needs to find the front to score. Victa Emma and Finnis Flash will be running on. Box Up 2.4.5.7

GRADING REVIEW OUTCOMES

TIME BANDS FOR MASTERS AT ANGLE PARK
Since Angle Park has been redeveloped with the new distances of 342m, 530, 595m and 730m GRSA has not allocated any times for Masters events. There subsequently has been sufficient racing at the venue for a time standard to be applied, which was approved at the most recent Grading Review Panel meeting.
The below time ratings for Masters events will now be implemented for meetings conducted from 1st July, 2022.
Time Bands are –
342m –19.75
530m –30.80
595m – Unlikely
730m – Unlikely

305M MASTERS AT MOUNT GAMBIER
Time band for Mount Gambier 305m Masters-
Previously GRSA had been using a policy for Masters events at Mount Gambier utilising the 277m distance, however, we had not adjusted this for the 305m until there was sufficient racing. At the most recent Grading Review Panel meeting it was decided to make the below changes and implement.  The below policy will now be implemented for meetings conducted from 1st July 2022-

305m Masters Policy for Mount Gambier – With Mount Gambier GRC conducting one 305m Grade 5 Masters race each meeting where possible, the Grading Department determined conditions for these races using some of the conditions of normal Grade 5 Masters events, however, factoring in the restricted nature of the 305m distance. If a dog wins and runs faster than 17.75, it can still remain eligible for the next week, if the dog then wins and runs faster than 17.75 again it will be ineligible for the race and distance the following week. The dog will either run over another distance or will miss that week’s race. The following week it will then be eligible. If there is no 305m Masters race the greyhound has to miss the next time that race is conducted. This only refers to the greyhounds that win.

GOTBA COURSING DATES
GOTBA at Virginia Coursing dates until the end of their season have been released.
Sunday July 3, Sunday July 17, August 14, August 28, September 11, September 25 and October 9.

OLD BRIDGE CLOSURES AT MURRAY BRIDGE
GRSA have been advised that there are major works now underway to safeguard the future of the Old Murray Bridge.
To allow these works to be carried out safely, traffic on the bridge has been reduced to a single lane, operating in one direction at a time with temporary traffic lights at each end.
Temporary bridge closures outside of peak times are required as part of the project.
The next temporary bridge closures are planned to take place from 9:30am to 2:30pm on the following days (weather permitting):
Tuesday, 5 July.
A detour will be in place via the Swanport Bridge during these closures.
Bridge access will be maintained for pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency services during the temporary closure. Existing temporary pedestrian and cyclist restrictions under the bridge will remain in place.
GRSA recommends these trainers engaged at Murray Bridge race meetings or travelling from Murray Bridge towards the city to please plan ahead and allow extra time to get to the relevant race meetings.
