TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

The highlight of tonight’s 10 event program is the running of the 2022 TAB SA V Allstars Match Race series, it gives the winner a ticket straight through to this year’s Group 1 Adelaide Cup Final. We have a sprinkle of interstaters throughout the night that should be kept safe in their respective events. As always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - The Trengove kennel are a bit like the Leyland Brothers, they travel far and wide with their runners and they have a good chance with It’s Smudgy here in the first. She was a last start winner here in 30.64 and looks the likely leader. Katanti will be running home strongly as will Daph’s Zac. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 2 - Fernando Mick is one of those interstaters I mentioned, he has won three of his last five all in quick times over the border and looks very hard to beat here 1st up. Harbor Blues along with Springvale Max for the Trifecta. Box Up 2.7.8

Race 3 - This is the Match Race series and the well named Wow She’s Fast is the one they have to beat here, she trialed here in a slick 30.19 last Thursday with 14 wins from just 19 starts she can go quicker on a good track. Stout Monelli loves this track and the series will be good for him. Add Giant’s Flash who has carved out a 30.09 run here in the past.7.1.4.6

Race 4 - There looks to be several chances here, I have gone with Dashing Wilma at each way odds, she is a strong type who with early luck will take beating. Spring High Low has handy Gawler form and is well drawn. Vega Black won at Gawler last start by 7L and has early pace. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 5 - Zipping Daria wasn’t disgraced in the recent SA Oaks series and looks one of the better chances here, she charged home late to run 4th here in the Final last week after blowing the start and should find this a bit easier. Go Forward Bruno and Snowy Jinx for the minors. Box up 3.4.6.7

Race 6 - Chic is another Victorian who is having a look here, she has 7 wins and 18 placings from 33 starts, she has been placed in three of her last five and is amongst the better chances here. Dark Tides is well drawn and Man Of Substance will be right in the mix if he cross from the wide draw. Box Up 1.3.6.7

Race 7 - Rushes Raw can bounce back in this, he goes well from wide draws and should lead and win. Hill Top Jack was a winner at The Meadows 3 runs back in 30.08 and looks a chance. Zipping Chew has been in outstanding form winning four of his last five and will be getting home hard. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 8 - This certainly is a wide open affair, I have gone for value with He’s Our Design who goes well from inside draws, he can show pace at times and has the gun draw. Sutton Ebony has early pace and was a last start winner over the 400M at Gawler. Spring Pony is knocking on the door. Box Up 1.4.6.8

Race 9 - We are over the distance here and Fantastic Radley looks the winner here again, he has been winning by big margins in recent wins and carving out quick times but as always he will start a very short price favorite. New Year Tears and Springvale Rex for the minors. 5.7.3.1 for $1

Race 10 - The Jovanovic kennel has a runner here in Buzz Junkie, he hasn’t raced since July where he was in outstanding form winning four of his last five over the 600M at The Gardens, he is a very impressive type with 10 wins from his 21 starts and must be respected on his return here tonight. Occipital Eyes along with Show Me Bucks for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.4.5.8

ADELAIDE CUP TRIAL TONIGHT
There will be plenty of Adelaide Cup interest with the Match Racing and other interstate greyhounds engaged in our fields tonight in preparation for next week’s heats however there will also be one solo trial this evening.

Victorian Dynamic Prince for trainer Peter Presutto who was reserve for the All stars Match Racing tonight will trial in between races. He was unlucky not to claim a spot in the series as he has an excellent record with 19 wins and 12 placings from 46 starts and over $90,000 in prizemoney. He has recently run 29.18 at Sandown so no doubt should trial pretty well tonight.

HE'S ON FIRE SET FOR MILLION DOLLAR GLORY ON SATURDAY NIGHT

South Australian local Tim Richards had a massive night last Friday when his kennel star He’s On Fire won his way through to the Million Dollar Chase final at Wentworth Park.

The lucrative series is in its fourth edition and He’s On Fire will be just the second South Australian to make the final, with Shadow Mist being the other who won his way through two years ago. He’s On Fire had a mammoth task to deal with on Friday, being drawn against She’s A Pearl who took out the last Million Dollar Chase, just a few months ago. Coming out from box three, He’s On Fire began like a rocket and quickly found a big lead. The excitement would have been building for Tim when He’s On Fire was a mile in front down the back, with the black dog able to get to the line and stop the clock in 29.73, winning by a couple of lengths and cementing his place in the final of the richest race in the country this Saturday night. It is a very strong field however He’s On Fire has drawn perfectly in box 2 and should shoot straight to the front and give them something to chase. The SA owned and bred chaser will have plenty of local support on Saturday night with the final at Wentworth Park to be run as race 10 at 10pm SA time.
