There are two heats of the Easter Cup which are races 4 and 5 over the 595m and they are the highlight of this evening’s program along with races 6 and 8 with both being wide open so it will be good for the trifecta, first four and quaddie punters.

595M EASTER CUP HEATS TONIGHT AT ANGLE PARK
We have two $6,315 Heats of the Mixed Easter Cup run over 595m at headquarters tonight. They are races 4 @ 7.40pm and race 5 @ 7.58pm. They feature some of our best local middle distance and staying chasers which include the likes of Miss Artemis, Like Wildfire and Zipping Neutron from heat 1 and Magical Mystic, Triumph and Dash Of Blue from heat 2.
The first four from each heat will qualify for next Thursdays $7,750 Final to be run on, 28th March.
The box draw will be conducted oncourse for this event after the running of race 6.
• If a greyhound has qualified for the 8 dog final of the Easter Cup over 595m on Thursday 28th March they will not be eligible to compete in the Eastar Match Race series on the same night.
PEAKY BOO SHOOTING TO MAKE GROUP 2 LAUNCHING PAD FINAL TONIGHT AT SANDOWN
Peaky Boo for trainer Ben Rawlings did a wonderful job last week at Sandown in the heats of the Group 2 Launching Pad winning his event in brilliant fashion in a slick 29.50 for the 515m journey. Tonight he steps out in the semi finals and has drawn favourably in box 2. He is in race 8 at 8.01pm SA time and if he can run in the first two he will qualify for the $150,000 to the winner Final to be run on Thursday, 28th March. Good luck to all concerned.
TRACK HARROW AND GRADE FOR MT GAMBIER AND MURRAY BRIDGE ONE TURN ON MONDAY
Please be advised as normal maintenance procedure the Mt Gambier and Murray Bridge One Turn tracks will have a track grade and harrow on Monday 25th March. This will not affect trialling at Murray Bridge as it will be done after they have been completed.
GAWLER FUTURE STARS HEATS SUNDAY NIGHT WITH EASTER FEATURES AT GAWLER ON EASTER SUNDAY
Easter racing comes to Gawler in late this month with both the Gawler Future Stars Final and Gawler Easter Sprint programmed on Sunday, 28th March.
There are two Gawler Future Stars Heats for SA Bred greyhounds whelped in 2022 on Sunday night over the 531m with the first four from each heat qualifying for the $3,500 Final on Easter Sunday, 28th March. GRSA ran a 5 dog heat and 4 dog heat in support of the participants and the club so the final could be run next weekend.
Also on Easter Sunday will be the Gawler Easter Sprint for mixed greyhounds over the 531m worth $5,000. (Trainers must nominate for this feature with all grades considered). It’s going to be a terrific night of racing on the Sunday night over the Easter break.

GRSA WELCOMES NEW PHOTOGRAPHER
GRSA is pleased to welcome new on course photographer Ash Penhall, who will be at three race meetings per week beginning in April. Ash joins GRSA from Gawler’s The Bunyip Newspaper where he was a photographer covering a wide array of sport and news events across the Gawler and Barossa Valley regions. He has covered major sporting events including the Adelaide international tennis, NRL State of Origin, LIV Golf, Big Bash League Cricket, SANFL and the Tour Down Under and is also one of the official photographers for the SA Rodeo series. We welcome Ash to GRSA and encourage participants to say hello at race meetings and follow his page on Facebook – Ash Penhall Greyhound Photography to stay up-to-date with the latest photos and updates.
EASTER TRIALLING ARRANGEMENTS
Please be advised there will be NO trials on Good Friday 29th March. There will be trials at Angle Park on Easter Sunday 31st March will racing on Easter Saturday. Trials will be cancelled on Easter Monday 1st April at both Gawler & Murray Bridge.
GAWLER MATTING AT 400M BOXES
The GRSA Maintenance team will be replacing the mat at the 400m starting boxes on Tuesday, 2ndApril. There should be no interruption to racing or trialling.
ANGLE PARK TRACK GRADE ON SATURDAY 6TH APRIL – NO TRIALS THAT WEEKEND AT VENUE
GRSA has confirmed that the Angle Park track will be graded on Saturday, 6th April due to the availability of the contractor and staff. It requires two days so there will be NO trials on Saturday, 6th April or Sunday, 7th April.
GROUP 3 MOUNT GAMBIER CUP HEATS ON SUNDAY 7TH APRIL WITH BIG BONUSES ATTATCHED TO FINAL
The $3,000 Cadillac Racing Group 3 Mount Gambier Cup Heats will be run on Sunday, 7th April with the $36,000 (Group 3) Final on Sunday, 14th April.

With Adhana Rico for trainer Cameron Forshaw taking out the Group 3 Murray Bridge Cup if this greyhound can also win the Mount Gambier Cup Final connections will get a $5,000 bonus and if Cameron can win the Mount Gambier Cup with any of his greyhounds, he will get a $5,000 trainer bonus.
REGUPOL FLOORING FOR MOUNT GAMBIER KENNEL HOUSE IN APRIL
GRSA and the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club have organised for contractors and their maintenance teams to install Regupol flooring in the Mount Gambier Kennel House from Monday, 15th April. Works will take a week and will have an effect on racing and trialling during this period.
A schedule of work and dates are below.
1. Work would begin on Sunday evening, 14th April with Maintenance clearing the kennels from the area after racing has concluded. (This is the Group 3 Mt Gambier Cup meeting)
2. Contractors would begin their work on Monday, 15th April with a view to have this completed by Friday, 19th April (Including the morning of Saturday, 20th April in case of slippage).
3. Maintenance staff would reinstall the kennels on Saturday, 20th April ready for racing on Sunday, 21st April.
4. Trials for the week will be cancelled including Saturday, 15th April due to staff availability.
5. The Race meeting on Thursday, 18th April has been cancelled.
Both Club and Authority have looked as these dates as the best option and least disruption to participants that starts after the Group 3 Cup series and is completed in a week with only one race meeting cancelled.
ANGLE PARK SATURDAY 30TH MARCH – SCRATCHING TIME ON THURSDAY PRIOR
Next weekend it will be Easter and we will race on the Saturday morning with the normal Angle Park meeting. As the Friday before is Good Friday and a public holiday the scratching’s for this meeting will be done at 3pm on Thursday 28th March to accommodate staff and participants.
“EASTAR” MATCH RACE TRIALLING – RIOT ROOSTER TO TRIAL TONIGHT
Festival of Fire “The Spark” winner Riot Rooster for trainer Ben Rawlings will trial tonight over the 530m journey in an effort to improve his position on the leader board. He will trial in between races on the program.
LOCAL MATCH RACE SERIES “THE SA EASTAR” ON MARCH 28 – NOMINATIONS CLOSE ON MONDAY
The SA Local Match Race series coined “The SA Eastar” will be held on Thursday night, 28th March (Easter) at Angle Park.
Eligibility for South Australian local greyhounds will be based around the Nationals conditions. They will need to be trained in SA 76 days out of the last 150 prior to the close of nominations.
Selection for this series will only be based around winning times at Angle Park. For greyhounds that have run over the 530m at Angle Park on any meeting since 1st November, 2023 their fastest winning time will be recognised and put them on the list for selection.
The head to head matches will be decided based on the final listing and nominations. Match 1 will be 1 v 4, Match 2 will be 2 v 3, Match 3 will be 5 v 8 and Match 4 will be 6 v 7. There will be no manual selection from the Grader. The top 4 seeded greyhounds will be rewarded with more prizemoney.
Winners of match races – Match 1 – 1 v 4 $4,500, Match 2 – 2 v 3 $4,000, Match 3 – 5 v 8 $3,500, Match 4 – 6 v 7 $3,000 There will be $500 Runner’s Up. Overall SA Eastar winner (based on overall times) - $6,000, second $2,500, third $1,500.
