TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Tonight is the first meeting of December so we will need to punt smarter and start to build a bank for the festive season, we have a strong 12 event program and we will start to concentrate more on the Trifecta’s and First Fours for value.

Race 1 - We have a full field here so we will have a crack at a First Four.  On The Tequila is one of the better chances on her last start win here when beginning better than normal and proved strong in the run home, she should be handy early and be amongst them at the end. Big Town Romeo can show early pace and hasn’t been that far away, add Flora Colossus along with Sandave Diamond who has been well travelled in recent runs. Box Up 4.5.6.8

Race 2 - The Maiden of the evening and I have tipped Ricolina Babe at her past two only to find one better on each occasion, we can’t jump off now as she is a big chance again. Rhonda Wine is 1st up from Victoria, she has been placed in 4 of her 6 starts and must be respected here. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 3 - Yarramundi Paul started the punters elect in last weeks Group 3 Brian Johnstone Final when running on from this draw to finish 3rd, he should bounce back here tonight and be very hard to beat. Fantastic Eddy has been in the money in four of his last five, he is the danger along with Yasmin Belle who can add some value in the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 4 - With the scratching of Spring Monica, Gondola should be able to skip to the front and pinch this, she has struggled in the past to hold on over the 530M here but gets her chance in this. Foreshadow will be the one running on strongly, he likes to use plenty of the track which is a problem. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 5 - Mallee Magic is the top selection here, he is a class act when on song and has a very good record over this trip, his recent runs in Victoria were handy and he is well drawn out wide. Spring High Low along with the Chair Man look chances for the Trifecta. Box Up 3.4.5.7

Race 6 - The Gavin Harris chaser Springvale Max was very impressive when winning here last week in a BON 30.36 when leading throughout, he is the one to catch again. Propelled will be tracking him down the back and is the danger. Add Victa Emma and Karmen Kristy from the First Four. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 7 - This is one to have a First Four in as it’s a wide open affair, I have gone with Closer To Rain from the red draw as she goes well when drawn on the fence, she can be slow early which is a worry. Mo Slater is another who can be tardy on lid rise, if she steps she can give this a big shake. Panorama and Aston Arena can run into the places with early luck. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 8 - Colin Swain has Orson Katie in good form, she has been in the money at her last five here and is amongst the better chances again. Slipper’s Tick gets home late as does Mepunga Web who will need luck from their draws. Box Up 3.4.7.8

Race 9 - We are over the Distance here and it is hard to go past the inform Mr. Ibrox who has been in outstanding form winning three of his last four here, he should collect another winners cheque tonight. Zipping Nebraska will be running on as will Chatting. 2 from 4.6.8 boxed.

Race 10 - Machismo can bounce back here, he won two starts back in a handy 30.56 from an inside draw and should give this a big shake despite his poor box manners. Quest For Extra showed pace here 1st up from Victoria when running 2nd and looks a big chance of leading again here, he is amongst the better chances. Black Night Burn for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 11 - Run Like Jess has been in the money here in 10 of his 12 runs but with only the one win he gets his chance to add to that tally in the small field as he is very strong. Sentinel McLaren is drawn for another forward showing as is Velocity Comet. 4 from 1.2.6 boxed.

Race 12 - Dark Compass is 1st up here in SA and his recent form in Victoria has been handy, he should be respected here from the good draw. Jax Bale is always a chance but he can blow the start on occasions and get back in the field. War Drum Express will be running on and can handle the wide draw. Box Up 1.2.6.8

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP ANGLE PARK IN DECEMBER

GRSA will continue to support local participants in December when the Festival of Fire series of races are conducted. GRSA is thrilled to conduct for the second year, the Festival of Fire series, the newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian greyhound racing calendar.

The “Festival Of Fire, series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations over the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event. There will be Heats and a Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner. There will be a change in that the second 595m event will be removed and the main 595m event has been increased from the best 12 greyhounds to best 16 greyhounds. Taking the place of the second 595m event will be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that have the highest time rating.

The Festival of Fire is an end of year celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, across all three distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.

The Festival of Fire series will commence on the racenight of Thursday, December 15, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 17) and then culminate in 5 Finals and a special stayers event with all Finals carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 22). The Board has resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model. This means that the majority of the stakemoney for the series will be additional to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to industry through the WAP model.
