Angle Park Preview - 19th January 2023
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
Tonight here at headquarters we have the Final of the John Gray over the 530m (race 8 ) with $10,000 to the winner, it certainly has turned into a smart final with several winning chances with the main contenders drawing awkwardly. We should have another good night on the punt with several good things throughout the evening.
Race 1 - We kick start the night with a distance event, there looks to be two chances in Beck’s Monelli and My Mate Snow, both are racing well and look the Quinella. Spring Illusion can run the Trifecta. 2.8.6.1
Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the evening, they have turned out to be a bit tricky in recent weeks, I have gone with the two runners in the Gavin Harris kennel both are well drawn and should be right in the finish. Aston Encanto can improve. 2.4.7.1
Race 3 - The Ryan Tugwell trained Finniss Surprise has been placed here in 8 of his 13 runs, he is well drawn and can hopefully find the front early. Elegant Ritzy is well drawn down in box 1 and should get a clear run early. 2.1.8.6.
Race 4 - Handy little race here and the Dickie Pearce chaser Spring Monica has been racing well from inside draws she is very strong and looks hard to beat. Victa Kerle has early pace and on her current Murray Bridge form is the danger. 1.2.4.8
Race 5 - This is the 1st of the 595m and its very hard to go past Whiskey Soda down in box 1, she has been racing well in open company and from the draw and the extra distance looks the one to beat. Miss Scallywags and Spring High Low can fill the Trifecta. 1.5.7.4
Race 6 - Springvale Rex has the good draw in a wide open affair, he can show early pace at times and will be right in the mix if he begins. San Lorenzo is a strong type who should be handy early. Add Impress Us and Man Of Substance for the First Four. 1.3.2.8
Race 7 - Springvale Roxy was very impressive when winning here last week from box 7 in good time, she is in outstanding form and is the one to catch again. Victa Kurt goes well from the wide draws and is the danger. Panorama has early pace and from the inside draw is an each way show. 3.8.6.1
Race 8 - The Final of the 2023 John Gray and Gondola and Harry are the main two for mine, both are strong and have won here in very similar times. It’s Smudgy is another who has early pace she has drawn very wide here but we can’t leave her out. Add Howling Hoss who will be running on. 3.4.8.6
Race 9 - This is throw a dart job, I have gone with Velocity Tahnie as she has early pace but I wouldn’t take too short of odds. Velocity Lotus and Wind Burn Flash are chances in a wide open affair 4.5.7.1
Race 10 - I like Run Like Jess here, he is back to grade five company and his recent form in open company has been very handy. Yankee Costanza will be running on as will Flora Colossus who can run a place at each way odds. 7.5.4.8
Race 11 - The last of the evening and the Colin Swain trained Dutch Impact can break through at his 2nd run here in SA, he is well drawn and will be the improver. Spring Harbour and Dash Of Blue can figure. 2.4.8.5
Best Bets
Race 4, No. 1 - Spring Monica
Race 5, No. 1 - Whiskey Soda
Race 10, No. 7 - Run Like Jess
Best Each Way
Race 8, No. 6 - Howling Hoss
