TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Tonight’s program we have a strong 11-event card with two semis of the 2022 Brian Johnstone series, races (5 and 6) both are very open and it will make for a terrific final the following week. As always, all races are Trifecta and First Four.

Race 1
- We should be able to kick start the night with a winner in Ambrose Bale down in box 2, he has been racing well here and from the inside draw is the one to beat. Basso’s Girl is another who is in form and she will be running on strongly and just needs luck early to be amongst them. Air Grace has an early pace and was a last-start winner here from box 1. Box Up 2.5.6.7

Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the evening and we will go with the Ex Victorian Ricolina Babe who has been placed twice at Sandown in her 3 starts, she is well drawn and is one of the better chances. Victa Kerle was a handy effort here 1st up and should be the improver. Box up 1.2.7.8

Race 3 - With only the five runners here Spring Pony gets his chance to return to the winner's circle, he can be hit and miss early but from box 1 looks like a very good chance. Orson Katie hasn’t put a paw wrong in recent runs being placed at her last five and is knocking on the door. Box up 1.2.4.6

Race 4 - Top Quality was very impressive when running the best of the night here last week winning by 8l in 30.28, he is drawn to win again but will be at skinny odds. Victa Reid loves this draw (8) and won the Gawler Cup Final from here,  he is the danger. The other three could all run 3rd. 1 from 8 box 4.5.7

Race 5 - This is the 1st of the semis and we will stick with Lektra Teddy who has won four of his last five, he has the early pace to lead and is very strong. Spring Honour along with Finniss Whisper has been racing well and are chances if luck goes their way. Box Up 1.3.4.7

Race 6 - The 2nd of the semis and Bobby Axelrod has won his last five here and Gawler all in handy times, he has a good turn of early pace and is the one to beat again. Keen Rocket is a handy type that has a good pace from the lids he can run into the minors again. Box up 1.3.4.6

Race 7 - There are several chances here so it makes for a good First Four event, I lean towards My Mum’s Value as he has good box speed and is a winner at his past two from inside draws. The danger looks to be Run Like Jess who loves to run into the placings and Charlee’s Misty who can show pace and handle the wide draw. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 8 - Molly Irish has been very good to us in recent weeks and should lead clearly here from her good draw of 3 and go on and win. Mepunga Web along with Dozing are chances for the Trifecta. Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 9 - Southbound has his draw here tonight. He has been freshened with over 8 weeks off and is down on the fence about where he should be able to kick up early and run a bold race. Victa Speed and Shakira Blaze are chances for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 10 - Big Town Romeo was a winner here Monday night from box 2 leading throughout he looks tough to beat again from the good draw. Bernardo Bowl is my selection, I am hoping he can be on the pace early and prove too strong in the run home. Hey Day can pinch a place. Box up 1.2.4.8

Race 11 - We finish the night over the 730m and Mr. Ibrox has a handy record over this trip, he can show an early pace at times and prove too strong. Chatting is never far away she has been in the money at her last five here and should be amongst them again. Orson Emmy is stepping up in distance and looks a strong type. 5 from 3,1 7 for $1

Best Bets
Race 3, NO. 1 - Spring Pony
Race 8, NO. 3 - Molly Irish
Race 9, NO. 1 - Southbound

Best Each way
Race 1, NO. 2 - Ambrose Bale

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP ANGLE PARK IN DECEMBER

GRSA will continue to support local participants in December when the Festival of Fire series of races are conducted. GRSA is thrilled to conduct for the second year, the Festival of Fire series, the newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian greyhound racing calendar.
The “Festival Of Fire, series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations over the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event. There will be Heats and a Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of the runner. There will be a change in that the second 595m event will be removed and the main 595m event has been increased from the best 12 greyhounds to the best 16 greyhounds. Taking the place of the second 595m event will be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that have the highest time rating.
The Festival of Fire is an end-of-year celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, across all three distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.

The Festival of Fire series will commence on the race night of Thursday, December 15, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 17) and then culminate in 5 Finals and a special stayers event with all Finals carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 22). The Board has resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model. This means that the majority of the stake money for the series will be added to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to the industry through the WAP model.
