Angle Park Preview - 17th February 2022
TELLING THE TAIL
By The Shadow
It’s final night of the 2022 SA St Leger (race 8 ) on the card and what a quality line we have, the Troy Murray kennel have two finalists and they look to have a chance with both runners. Springvale Maddi has returned to form at the right time for the Barber team so has Springvale Max for Gavin Harris, the final carries a $10,000 to the winner so it is well worth winning.
Race 1 - We start the night with a Maiden so it makes for a good first Four event, I have gone with the well-drawn Primed down in box 1, he was a handy 2nd 1st up here in SA and has the benefit of the good draw. Vanilla Slick ran a place here at his last start and is sure to be improved. Box Up 1.2.4.7
Race 2 - This is over the 595m and I have stuck with Bedrock Fred, he has been placed here over this trip on two occasions and is very strong. Don’t Tell Lies is the danger if she was able to lead she will be too good on the lure. Add Starlight Dusty who has handy Mount Gambier form. Box Up 1.2.6.8
Race 3 - How good was Stout Monelli last week, he gave his opposition a big lesson and went 33.68 setting a new TRACK RECORD, he looks far too good again here but will be skinny odds. Victa Haydn has been in the money in 7 of 8 this distance and George The First for third. 6.2.4 in order.
Race 4 - Tough event this one and I have gone with the inside three but not with a lot of confidence, Johnny Disco is resuming and is a lot better than his last start showed, he has the pace to lead. Flash Banner has won her two starts since arriving here in SA and looks to have ability. Aston Resort can run in to the minors. Box Up 1.2.3.6
Race 5 - Fantastic Victor was another who burnt up the track last week, he went straight to the front and carved out a slick 30.09 from box 3, he won’t get it all his own way here tonight but is still hard to tip against on that effort. Victa Grosso along with the pacey It’s Smudgy are the dangers. Box up 3.6.7.8
Race 6 - Scorching Sun get’s his chance to break through here, he is a run on type who has been knocking on the door and is nicely drawn. Stranger Tides has early pace and is in winning form. Add Weblec Blade along with the pacey Beatific for the First Four. Box Up 1.3.4.6
Race 7 - Kilkenny Monelli has been runner up at his three runs since arriving from WA and ( yes I have been on him in all 3 ) so he owes me big time and hopefully he can break through here. The dangers look to be Dark Tides and Let’s Win Coin along with Howling Hoss. Box Up 2.4.6.7
Race 8 - This is the Final of the 2022 SA St Leger and She’s A Hotshot is drawn to lead, she ran a handy 30.39 here last week from box 8 and looks the one to catch. The big danger is Springvale Maddi, she went a touch quicker and she also led. Springvale Max will be running on and Aston Carlos can add some value to the First Four. Box Up 1.2.3.6
Race 9 - Lot Of Poise was very unlucky here last start when 2nd after finding trouble into the back, the small field should help here as he is still learning about racing, he is a quality type who should win. Sky And Thunder was backed off the map here at his debut and was never a chance, he is sure to improve and has the nice draw. 6 from 1.2.8
Race 10 - The inside two here look the main chances in Dashing Jinx and Springvale Flora, both have been racing well and are well drawn, they look the best Quinella of the night. Paul Keeping found a heap of trouble at his debut and can bounce back into the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.8
Race 11 - Its always nice to go home on a winner and Alfieri can do that, he has always shown above average ability and on recent form he wins again from the good draw. Hot Spartan is the danger as he will be running on strongly and goes well from wide draws. All Show along with Springvale Shine for the First Four. Box up 1.2.5.8
