2023 BRIAN JOHNSTONE SEMI FINALS TONIGHT
Tonight we see the running of two semi-finals of the 2023 Brian Johnstone (Group Three).
The first semi-final features heat winners Footrot Fender (30.71) and surprise heat winner Mermaid Lemonade (30.93) from the Bosco Stamenkovic kennel matched up against the likes of Buzz The Hustler for Maurie Kiley and Gawler Cup finalist Who Knows Darren for Don Turner. It looks a great clash to kick the semi-finals of and is race 6 on the program due to start at 8.19pm.

In the second semi-final the improving My Khaleesi for trainer Ben Rawlings will be shooting for 4 in a row tonight after she won her heat in 30.65 last week, she takes on another heat winner Magical Mystic who rated a handy 30.84 for Bosco Stamenkovic last week along with Terrific Bobby for Liz Chegia and Rico Nismo for Richard Pearce. This will be race 7 on the card tonight due to jump at 8.37pm.

The first four from each semi-final qualifies for the $37,500 Brian Johnstone Final on Thursday 23rd November with the fastest fifth being declared the first reserve and the other fifth placegetter the second reserve. The box draw for the Final will take place on course tonight after the running of race 8 tonight.
The final part of this series will be the Gawler Classic 2023 over the 531m to be run on Sunday 31st December for the heats and the final on Friday 5th January.

SHOOT OUT AT SANDOWN ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Race 9 on Saturday night at Sandown at 8.21pm will take centre stage on the National level when Adelaide Cup winner Transponder (box 7), Adelaide Cup placegetter Big Energy (box 1) do battle with Alpha Zulu
(box 3) and Hector Frawley (box 5) in the 4 dog Shoot Out.

However, on what is a great nights racing, much of the local attention will fall onto races 1 and 8 where SA Owned and Bred stars Victa Marli returns to the race track after 4 months off and Victa Damian will look to continue his winning ways after returning to the race track in impressive fashion last Sunday. Both in the care of Jackie Greenough Victa Marli is in race 1 and has draw box 7 in a handy Mixed 4/5 event while Victa Damian has come up with box 1 in a Prelude of the Melbourne Cup.

Good luck to all concerned.

KURT DONSBERG ON THURSDAY NIGHTS IN NOVEMBER AT ANGLE PARK
GRSA advise that our oncourse photographer Kurt Donsberg will be taking a break this month from his current contract of meetings, however, he will continue to attend the Angle Park Thursday nights to accommodate the feature events at that venue.

GRSA is currently working through options at the other venues to accommodate Kurt not attending where possible. As previously advised if there is no oncourse photographer at the meeting then please liaise with the stewards if you wish to take a photo after the race event.
