VACCINATION RULE FOR RACING IN SA
Trainers are reminded that Rule 25 (Minimum Vaccination Requirements) took effect Monday, 1st May, Vaccination Certificates must be received by GRSA prior to close of nominations for affected greyhounds to be considered eligible.

CHRISTMAS “FESTIVAL OF FIRE” RACING AT ANGLE PARK TONIGHT

We have a super program of racing tonight at Angle Park as the racing “Festival of Fire” really heats up. There are three heat and final series this evening over the 12 race program as we head towards next Thursday night where over $100,000 will be on offer for our finals.

“The Ashes” is for the best 16 greyhounds selected over the 530m journey. We have two heats which are races 7 and 8 tonight and feature the likes of Adhana Rico, Where’s Poppy, Doonan and Let’s Win Coin in heat 1 and Fiorano, Ravers Army, Buzz The Hustler and Springvale Roxy in heat 2. The first 4 from each heat will qualify for next Thursdays $20,000 to the winner final with the box draw conducted oncourse after the running of race 9 tonight.

“The Inferno” is for those greyhounds not selected for the Ashes and not selected for the Flame events over the 530m journey. We have four heats which are races 3,4,5 and 6 tonight and feature the likes of Fantastic Ada and Basil Brush Rose in heat 1, Razzle Darryl and Kia Ora Lad in heat 2, Anasazi Monelli and Springvale Maddi in heat 3 and Minter Redeem and Velocity Zaylia in heat 4. The first 2 from each heat will qualify for next Thursdays $12,500 to the winner final with the box draw conducted oncourse after the running of race 7.

“The Flame” is for the 32 lowest ranked greyhounds nominated over the 530m journey. We have four heats which are races 9,10,11 and 12 tonight and feature the likes of Spring Harbour and Faint Tyson in heat 1, Weblec Flame and Senna Wick in heat 2, Rico Nismo and Fantastic Helga in heat 3 and Run On Rusty and Make Noise in heat 4. The first 2 from each heat will qualify for next Thursdays $10,000 to the winner final with the box draw conducted oncourse after the running of race 12 tonight.

“The Bonfire” was meant to be for the best 16 greyhounds selected over the 595m journey however we only have one Prelude race tonight with 8 greyhounds engaged. This is race 1 on the program and features a super line up including Fantastic Dixie, Machismo, Could Be King and Springvale Bray. Whilst nominations will be open for this event next week all these greyhounds will have preference (so long as nominated) for next Thursdays $15,000 to the winner final.

The GRSA Board resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model.  This means that the majority of the stakemoney for the series will be additional to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to industry through the WAP model.

This Saturday the series continues with The Spark at Angle Park for greyhounds 0-5 wins over the 530m with 5 heats being run.

“The Spark” is for the best 0-5 wins greyhounds nominated over the 530m journey. We have five heats which are races 6,7,8,9 and 10 on Saturday morning and feature the likes of Bandit Hazel, Unholy Reign, Dishonest, Maximum Smiles, Blazing Butters, Riot Rooster, Fast Headache, Woodside Johnny, Baez Jinz and Transplant King thought the heats. The five winners and three fastest second placegetter will qualify for next Thursdays $10,000 to the winner final with the box draw conducted oncourse after the running of the last race on Saturday.

The final feature in the series will be The Blaze for the staying greyhounds over the 730m journey next Thursday night worth $10,000 to the winner.

THE BLAZE (730M) – Open Event– selected by the GRSA Grader – reserves – Maidens ineligible for SA trained greyhounds that must have been in SA as of midnight 1st November 2023 to be eligible

Thursday 22nd December – Best 8 (1st $10,000, 2nd 2,900, 3rd 1,450, Unplaced $400)

Nominations close with GRSA at 9.00am on Monday, 18th December.

** As mentioned GRSA will also be accepting nominations for the Bonfire series over the 595m with those competing tonight with first preference**

CLASSIC AND BREEDERS FUTURITY PAYMENTS – DUE TOMORROW

Owners of SA Bred greyhounds are advised that the next batch of Futurity payments are due tomorrow (Friday, 15th December 2023).

The payments due are:

Breeders 2024 – Final Payment (Pups born January 22 to June 22)

This payment is for greyhounds for which the First and Second Sustaining Payments were made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.

Classic 2024 – Second Payment (Pups born July 22 to December 22)

This payment is for greyhounds for which the First Sustaining Payment was made last June. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.

Breeders 2025 – First Payment (Pups born January 23 to June 23)

This First Payment is due for Breeders 2025. All SA Bred greyhounds born in the above period are eligible to make this payment. The First Payment is $27.50 per pup or a “one-off” Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.

CHRISTMAS CUP/BORDER CHALLENGE (MOUNT GAMBIER V WARRNAMBOOL) THIS SUNDAY

This year due to programming of feature events the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club will use the Williams Crane Hire Christmas Cup Final this Sunday (Race 8) to select the representatives for the Border Challenge (Mt Gambier V Warrnambool).

Subject to the Border Challenge criteria, the first four past the post in the $4,500 Christmas Cup Final this Sunday will also be Mount Gambier’s first choices to represent the Club in the Warrnambool V Mount Gambier Border Challenge at Warrnambool on Thursday, December 21 worth $5,800. If any of the first four past the post are not eligible the next placings will be considered and then an invitation from the Club to ensure there are four representatives.

BORDER CHALLENGE CONDITIONS FOR MOUNT GAMBIER:

Trainer must have had starters at 15 Mount Gambier meetings in the past 12 months. Trainer must have trained the greyhound nominated for the previous three months. Greyhound must have started at least four times in the past 12 months at Tara Raceway. Warrnambool V Mount Gambier (Warrnambool 450m, Thursday, December 21).


GAWLER CHRSTMAS MEETING THIS SUNDAY

Gawler will run their Christmas Fun night this Sunday (17th December), they have a 12 race program with the first at 5.02pm and the last at 8.25pm. The Club have plenty of fun things instore for the oncourse patrons.


NO TRIALS AT MURRAY BRIDGE ON MONDAY

With a break in the weather and confirming the civil contractor’s availability the Murray bridge circle track will have 100T of sand added and will be graded or Monday morning. We have delayed this for a few weeks however this is the first opportunity we have had to implement this maintenance.

As there will be significant maintenance going on at the venue we have also cancelled the Straight track trials to ensure our team can carry out the work without delay.

Please also note that there will be No Trials at Murray Bridge on Monday 15th January and Monday 22nd January due to staffing issues.


TRIALLING OVER XMAS AND NEW YEAR

This year Xmas day falls on a Monday with Tuesday, 26th December being Boxing Day. There will be no trials on Xmas Day and there will be NO trials at Angle Park on Tuesday night. There will be trials at Murray Bridge on Wednesday 27th and Gawler Thursday 28th December along with Sunday 31st at Angle Park as normal.

Over the New Year period there will be NO trials on Monday, 1st January at Murray Bridge and NO trials at Gawler on Monday, 1st January.

TRIAL BOOKER TO INCORPORATE GAWLER THURSDAY TRIALS – STARTED LAST WEEK

Gawler online nominations for Thursdays started last week with the trial session in the morning. Please be mindful that Bookings will close 3pm the day prior (Wednesday) with GRSA administration staff overseeing the bookings as normal. GRSA has increased the number of bookings for each Gawler session from 4 to 6 trials per trainer. This is to assist trainers with greyhounds which trial one after another.

Shortly we will turn our attention to the Monday trial session which will require our race day and offsite staff to manage.

Please be advised that the GRSA Administration and GAP Office’s will close at 3pm on Friday, 22nd December.

KATE’S A SCANDAL CHRISTMAS SPRINT ON THURSDAY 28TH DECEMBER

On Thursday, 28th December the feature at Angle Park will be the $14,275 Kate’s A Scandal Christmas Sprint Free For All (N/P) over the 530m.

EARLY START AND EARLY FINISH CHRISTMAS EVE FOR GAWLER

Sky Racing have advised due to scheduling of product on Sunday, 24th December our Gawler meeting will start and finish earlier than normal. The first of 12 races will be at 3.13pm and the last at 6.45pm.
***The scratching deadline for this meeting will be between 8am and 9am on Sunday 24th December.

Due to Xmas Day on Monday we will also have to finalise the scratchings for the Murray Bridge Straight Track run on Tuesday 26th December at the same time (8am – 9am on Sunday 24th December).***


HEATS GAWLER CLASSIC 2023 – 531m

The Heats of the Gawler Classic 2023 over 531m will be run on Sunday, 31st December with the $4,500 Final on Friday, 5th January. This series is for greyhounds paid up for Classic 2023.
