TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Tonight here at headquarters we have a strong 12-event program with the highlight being 5 heats of the Brian Johnstone over the 530m and the GAP 25th Anniversary race 5 on the card which is a quality lineup. As usual, all races are Trifecta and First Four events and in recent weeks we have been on the right side of the ledger.

Race 1 - We start with a Maiden so its very hard to gage several of the runners, I have gone with the Rasmussen kennel here with Victa Kerle, the kennel has been having a good run with their 1st starters and should be kept safe. Add Yasmin Belle and Flying Poet for the minors. Box Up 1.5.7.8

Race 2 - This is the 1st of 5 heats of the Brian Johnstone and it is very hard to go past the well-performed Bobby Axelrod, he has the pace to lead here and has won his last four all in handy times, he is our top selection. Springvale Jess is well drawn and looks like a chance. Finniss Whisper should be the improver from the inside draw. 4 from 1.2.5 boxed.

Race 3 - Lektra Teddy is our top selection here, he is a strong performer who is well-drawn and should be kicking up and holding the lead with three wins from his last four, he is the one to beat. Agent Nineteen is the danger on his past two wins at Gawler in quick times when well supported on both occasions. Box Up 2.4.5.7

Race 4 - The 3rd of the heats and there are several chances here, I have gone with Yarramundi Paul he made good late ground here last week from this draw and has been in the money at his last five at this track let’s hope tonight is the night. Finniss Redeem and Springvale Dave are both well-drawn to figure. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 5 - This is the GAP 25th Anniversary Feature and the two main chances look to be the Ben Rawlings pair Top Quality and Came And Went, both can carve out quick times in the front and have good box speed. Weblec Flame will be running home strongly and is one for the Trifecta. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 6 - The Rawlings kennel has a chance for a race to race double here with Agent Four, she has an early pace and is amongst the better chances. Keen Rocket has only had the 3 starts for 2 wins and is well drawn, add Yarramundi Turbo. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 7 - This is the last of the heats and Spring Honour gets his chance to break through, he has been placed at his last four here and should lead and hopefully pinch this. Finniss Surprise along with Agent Nine Nine will be running. Box up 1.2.4.5

Race 8 - We are over the 595m here and Scorching Sun is the form runner and has the gun draw, he will be hard to beat as will Mr. Ibrox. Throw in Kingsville Flyer for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.6.8

Race 9 - Go Forward Bruno has been in good form here, he will be running strongly and with the small field is a big chance. Gondola is the leader, I am hoping he can ping and pinch this from the inside draw but will need a handy lead to hold on. Spring Pony can round out the minors. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 10 - Molly Irish has been very good to us in recent weeks and she looks far too good again here but will be very short tonight. It is a raffle for the minors so take Molly Irish as a stand-out. 4 from 5.7.8 Boxed.

Race 11 - The Ben Rawlings kennel could have a huge night, they have a newcomer here in Chair Man who is over from NSW, he is drawn to run a bold race here 1st up and his recent runs have been over the distance. Toxic Impurities is another who has crossed the border, she has been racing at SALE over the 440m and should be respected 1st up. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 12 - Charlee’s Misty can send us home on a winning note, she has the good draw of (1) and has the box speed to hold the early lead. Strategise will be running on as will Show Me Bucks. 1 from 2.4.6 boxed

Best Bets
Race 3 ,NO. 2 - Lektra Teddy
Race 4, NO. 8 - Yarramundi Paul
Race 7, NO. 5 - Spring Honour

GOOD LUCK TO HE’S ALL PURPOSE IN GROUP 2 IPSWICH CUP FINAL TONIGHT
Good luck to SA-owned and bred He’s All Purpose which has qualified for tonight’s Group 2 $100,000 to the winner Ipswich Cup final. Owned by Tim Richards and Bred by Cameron Butcher he was sent to QLD in the care of Kevin Murnane and got the job done last week leading throughout in his heat from box 1. He moves to box 6 in the final which is race 8 on the program and will need to use all his brilliant early speed to find the front however as SA fans saw through the Million Dollar Chase with He’s On Fire, Tim and the team know how to prepare for a big race.

SATURDAY TO THURSDAY NIGHT FINALS AT ANGLE PARK

2023 GAWLER PRODUCE STAKES – NOMINATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER
The 2022 Gawler Produce Stakes will be run by GRSA in conjunction with the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club.
Once again we will offer a guaranteed Final stake money of $22,000. The estimate for the total series prizemoney is $40,000, based on this year's series. The series is for greyhounds whelped in 2021.
In 2023 we will again be offering additional incentives for trainers to nominate. A bonus will be offered to any greyhound which can win both the Produce Stake and the Gawler Gold Cup.
The jackpot has increased from $10,000 to $11,000 as Springvale Max missed out on winning the Gawler Gold Cup this year after running fourth in his Heat and not qualifying for the Final.
The SA Bred bonus will also be continued; should the winner of the Final be SA Bred, there will be an SA Bred bonus of $1,000 to the owner and $500 to the breeder.
The series will be in June with the Final on Sunday, 25th June 2023. (Pending alterations)
