Angle Park Preview - 10th March 2022
TELLING THE TAIL
By The Shadow
As we lead up to another long week end we have a strong 12 event program here at Angle Park there looks to be a couple of good things again on the card so it should give us a few dollars to spend. As always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.
Race 1 - It’s a wide open affair we kick off with and I have gone with Cyclone Jane who has the good draw, she was a last start winner at Gawler over the 643M and is drawn to have every chance. Weblec Mist is in form, she has been racing well with two wins from her last 4 and loves this circuit. Box up 1.5.7.8
Race 2 - Zipping Princess was very impressive at her 1st run here in SA when saluting in 30.88 she is well drawn again and is the one to beat. Jalapeno Lad has a good turn of early pace, the draw is a worry but he does have ability. Kinrock Star was very impressive when winning here in 30.59, his box manners are the main worry as he is tardy early. Box Up 2.4.5.8
Race 3 - The Rasmussen kennel have a handy one in Willow, he has only had the five starts for four wins, he has early pace and is one of the better chances. Paul Keeping along with Clear View will be running on. Box Up 1.2.4.7
Race 4 - Primed was an eye catching run when winning here in 30.43 from box 2 last run, he looks a handy type and will be very hard to toss. Acclaimed found a heap of trouble when unplaced here last start he can run into the money here. Fantastic Faith was well supported at her debut when 2nd after showing early pace she is a must for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.3.6.8
Race 5 - I have a lot of time for Lot Of Poise, he has won here in the past in a slick 30.26 and is a strong type who is still learning and can go close again here. Charlee’s Misty is on debut, the EX NSW performer has 4 wins from 19 starts along with 8 placings. Add Midnight Tracker and Spring Flora. Box up 1.2.6.8
Race 6 - This is over the 595M and the Trengove kennel have a big chance with Prussian Spirit, she has been racing well with three wins from her last four and is amongst the better chances. Dark Tides along with Zipping Abilene have the form on the board. Box Up 1.2.4.5
Race 7 - This certainly makes for a good betting affair and I have gone with the well-drawn Zinfandel Nikki down in box 1, the Gavin Harris trained chaser has won three of her last four. Howling Hoss and Victa Mikey have been racing well without winning. Box Up 1.2.4.5
Race 8 - Hot Spartan looked a certainty here last week from this draw but was well beaten when finishing 2nd when a short price favorite, I’m tipping he can bounce back and salute tonight but I wouldn’t take the short price they did last run. Springvale Max and Impress Us must be respected. Box Up 1.3.7.8
Race 9 - The Rasmussen kennel hold the aces here with four runners and three of them from the same litter, Victa Grosso can bounce back from his good draw of two he is a class act when on song. Victa Reid was very impressive when winning here last week in a BON 30.29 he and Victa Haydn look the trifecta. Box Up 2.4.6.8
Race 10 - Go with the two “Z” runners here in Zinfandel Cilla and Zipping Rafferty both have been around the mark of late and are chances here. Outback Rebel continues to be hit and miss early he is a run on type who can figure. Box Up 1.2.5.7
Race 11 - This is our distance affair tonight and with only the four runners I have gone with Hugs And Kisses who has been handy since arriving here in SA, she looks a strong type who is drawn to have every chance. New Year Tears has been in the money in 14 of his 20 starts here and will be right in the mix we will have a trifecta here for $1.( 1.3.7.5 )
Race 12 - Flora Colossus can send us home on a winning note he has been racing well and has the early pace lead. Aston Resort is well boxed again he can run into the minors. Speed Limit and Zipping Sheba are place chances. Box Up 1.2.4.8

SATURDAY TO THURSDAY NIGHT FINALS TO START IN MARCH
GRSA have looked at the opportunity to increase the number of races conducted on a Thursday night at Angle Park which may positively assist the field sizes by not having to split as many races. Without affecting the greyhounds which are nominated regularly for Thursday night we are looking at drawing from a different pool of greyhounds.
Once a fortnight we run the morning Saturday meeting at Angle Park where we would run between one to four 530m events on the 10 race card. These greyhounds are Time Graded greyhounds (1-4 wins and 5 + wins) and would normally not compete on a Thursday night. We have decided to program heats on the Saturday for these greyhounds (maximum 2 heats) into a final on the Thursday night (5 days later). The heats would be at the normal Time Graded prizemoney however the final on the Thursday will be budgeted Grade 6 or Grade 5 money. The heats and finals will be 6 dog fields and Non Penalty. The Final will be conducted as Race 1 on the Thursday night.
We have programmed the first of these for Saturday 19th March with the final on Thursday 24th March and plan to program each fortnight.
• Nominations for Heats close with GRSA at 9am on Wednesday, 16th March.
BREEDERS 2022 PRELUDE (1) HEATS ON 22ND MARCH
$2,200 Heats of Prelude (1) for Breeders 2022 will be run on Monday, 21st March at Angle Park.
The Series is for all greyhounds eligible for Breeders 2022 with the $4,500 Final to be run on Monday, 28th March.
• Nominations close Thursday, 17th March with GRSA at 9.00am
“EASTAR” MATCH RACE TRIALLING CONDITIONS NOW RELEASED - FIRST OPPORTUNITY 24th MARCH
Trials will be conducted on Thursday 24th March, Thursday 31st March and Thursday 7th April at the Angle Park race meetings over the 530m. There will be up to eight trials conducted each night, with a maximum of two dogs per trial with a total of 8 greyhounds trialling per night. These trials will be run between races at the discretion of the stewards. Trainers must book these trials with Greyhound Racing SA by 11.00am on the day.
Greyhounds will be eligible to trial at the total discretion of the Grader where a trainer may have to provide information in support of trialling. Local eligibility conditions still apply.
Each greyhound will only be allowed to trial once in an effort to improve their position or obtain a spot on the list.
LOCAL MATCH RACE SERIES “THE SA EASTAR” IN APRIL
The SA local Match Race series coined “The SA Eastar” will be held on Thursday night, 14th April (Easter) at Angle Park.
Eligibility for South Australian local greyhounds will be based around the Nationals conditions. They will need to be trained in SA 76 days out of the last 150 prior to the close of nominations.
Selection for this series will only be based around winning times at Angle Park. For greyhounds that have run over the 530m at Angle Park at any meeting since 1st November, 2021, their fastest winning time will be recognised and put them on the list for selection.
The head to head matches will be decided based on the final listing and nominations. Match 1 will be 1 v 4, Match 2 will be 2 v 3, Match 3 will be 5 v 8 and Match 4 will be 6 v 7. There will be no manual selection from the Grader. The top 4 seeded greyhounds will be rewarded with more prizemoney.

ANGLE PARK’S 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND $5OK TO THE WINNER ON FRIDAY 29TH APRIL
After consultation with Greyhound Racing Victoria, Greyhound Racing SA is very appreciative that they have swapped their Friday night meeting on April 29th with Angle Park’s Thursday night meeting on April 28th. This will mean that Angle Park can celebrate our 50th Anniversary with a big night planned on a Friday night along with increased prizemoney of $50,000 to the winner for the Anniversary Cup Final on the night.
The night itself will be very much like an Adelaide Cup atmosphere with plenty of entertainment for families as we celebrate 50 years at Angle Park. The feature Anniversary Cup Final, offering $50k to the winner will be sure to provide a high quality line up of sprinters, locally and interstate, with Heats for this event on Thursday, 22nd April. Coinciding with the Anniversary Cup Final is the SA Distance Championship Final worth $10k to the winner with Heats also run on Thursday, 22nd April.
Other changes will be the Gawler Friday meeting on 29th April will now be run on Thursday, 28th April in the twilight timeslot.
