TELLING THE TAIL
By The Shadow

We have another strong 11 event program tonight here at headquarters, I certainly need to improve on last Thursday effort as it was dismal. We have four heats of the SA St Leger (races 3 to 6) so the first two will make it through to next week’s fina,l as always all races are Trifecta and First Four events and a couple of the races tonight look to be wide open.

Race 1 - Stout Monelli steps up to the 595m here tonight, he has been in superb form over the 530m running quick times and the extra distance shouldn’t be a worry so he looks the winner. Meet Joe Black is well drawn and is another who is in form, he can run into the placings. Add Bedrock Fred as he is very strong. Box Up 1.3.4.6

Race 2 - This is a Maiden so it’s a good event to have a Trifecta in, we will go with the newcomer in Vanilla Slick because of the good draw and the kennel is having a good run. Chewdini and Bourdain both have been in the money at their past couple and are drawn to have every chance in a wide open affair. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 3 -  Don’t Tell Lies had a trip to NSW and won at Albion Park back in December in 29.73, she has been back for nearly a month and expect a bold showing here. Springvale Maddi won here last Thursday from box 2 and has the pace to be right in the mix again. Aston Carlos is well drawn. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 4 - The two chances here look the book ends in Wizardry Things and Spring Mayfield, both have been racing well and look the quinella. Acclaimed was impressive when winning his Maiden last run and is a trifecta chance. Little Purpose has early pace and is amongst the chances.

Race 5 - The Troy Murray kennel certainly has She’s A Hotshot going well, she has won four of her last five and has a good turn of early pace. Zinfandel Nikki is another who has pace the Gavin Harris trained sprinter has won past couple here in good fashion. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 6 - The Rasmussen/ Butcher combination look to have a smart type in Willow, the youngster has only had the 3 starts and has a 100% strike rate, he is one to follow as he runs through the grades. Kingsville Flyer is a strong type, he will be running on strongly and can go close. Spring Phoebe is well drawn. Box Up 1.2.3.6

Race 7 - This is the Final over the 595m and we will go with Spring Agatha because of the good draw, she made good ground here last week from a wide draw and should be punching up early. Locked was very impressive when winning here last week, he is the danger. Zipping Nebraska flew late after missing the start and is the improver. Box Up 1.3.4.6

Race 8 - Fantastic Victor was very impressive when winning at Murray Bridge last run, he can carve out quick times when out in front and will be VERY hard to beat in this. Scorching Sun get’s back early in his races and will be running on. Fly For Trix has early pace but would need to be a long way out in front to pinch this. Box Up 3.4.6.8

Race 9 - I thought we had the money last week but I was wrong again when Kilkenny Monelli ran 2nd he get’s his chance to break through here tonight. Carry On Liam is a EX-Victorian who is sure to be well tried on his SA debut and is right in the mix. He’s On Fire has been racing well over the short and is capable of showing up with his early pace. Box Up 2.3.4.5

Race 10 – In a wide open race, Harboring has early pace and can figure as can On The TequilaSwift Dominance for third. 4 from 1,2,7

Race 11 - Jack Trengove can home on a winning note with another newcomer in Paul Keeping, he has 2 wins and 5 placings from just the 10 starts and looks to have above average ability. Sky And Thunder has mixed interstate form and is on debut here, he is in the Murray kennel and must be kept safe from the good draw. Box Up 1.4.6.8

FRANKIE BOY RESERVE FOR ZOOM TOP SATURDAY NIGHT

Frankie Boy for Clint Trengove has been declared 1st reserve for Saturday nights $75,000 to the winner Group 1 Zoom Top at the Meadows on Saturday night.

The Zoom Top is race 5 due to start at 7.20pm SA time and features a wonderful line up of stayers however all SA fans will be hoping he can gain a start and show all the interstaters what our local chasers can do. If he doesn’t gain a start Frankie Boy will go around in a normal graded event on the program which is race 2 at 6.18pm SA time, drawing box 8. There will be more SA flavour with Bec Romyn having Meet Joe Black engaged in race 10 at 9.03pm, drawing box 6. Hopefully he has a clean trip tonight in the first at headquarters before heading across the border.

Unfortunately, our other local nominations Stout Monelli for Tim Aloisi was not selected for the Group 1 Temlee after trialing last Saturday night. Hopefully that trial will help him secure an Australian Cup heat spot later this month.

GRSA SKY WEEKLY SCHEDULE TO CHANGE FROM 1ST DECEMBER 2021

From the start of this month (December), the Sky weekly schedule of greyhound racing in South Australia has changed.

The first two Sundays of any month will routinely be scheduled at Murray Bridge with the remaining Sundays being allocated to Gawler. The primary reason for the change is about providing both of those Clubs with an accessible weekly timeslot which helps them to cultivate a strong base of local patronage.

In regard to trialling at these Clubs, when we race at Gawler on the Friday they will trial on the Thursday before. When we race at Gawler on the Sunday they will trial on the Friday before. Murray Bridge trialling dates will remain unchanged.
