Due to the Mini Tornado that knocked over the Winning Post at Angle Park race meeting on Monday night has been transferred to Gawler.

ANGLE PARK CHANGES DUE TO MINI TORNADO LAST NIGHT

The last three races at Angle Park last night were cancelled due to a mini tornado that swept through the complex and knocked over the Winning Post. With much of the power for the race track including the track lights connected to the back of the winning post, when it was knocked over this blacked out the race track resulting in no power and no further racing. It was extremely fortunate and we were thankful that this happened in between races and no greyhounds or staff was in the vicinity. The wild weather also caused damage to the track fencing and caused other maintenance issues at the complex.

Our head groundsman was onsite for most of last night and into the early hours of the morning assessing the damage and controlling any “live” electrical issues due to overnight rain.

With plenty of work required from ground staff and contractors in the coming days to replace the Winning Post, sort out the electrics and timing to the track GRSA has made the decision to cancel tomorrow morning’s trials at Angle Park.

The Monday Night race meeting at Angle Park (24/10) will also have to be moved to Gawler. The races will be Non Penalty events with the 515m events now over the 531m, the 600m over the 643m and the 731m over the 643m. Trainers will be able to scratch free of penalty if they desire.

GRSA will make every endeavour to have Angle Park available for the trials on Tuesday night and the race meeting on Wednesday however a decision about those dates will be made early next week.
