Angle Park cancelled last night due to Heat
The extreme weather experienced in the Adelaide region yesterday, forced the abandonment of last night’s Angle Park race meeting.
Acting under the guidelines set out in GRSA’s Hot Weather Policy, race day officials endeavoured to proceed with the meeting, delaying the start of the program in the hope that the temperature would decrease. However shortly after 8.00pm when it was evident that a significant drop in temperature was unlikely to occur, and acting on Vet’s advice, the meeting was abandoned. The safety and welfare of greyhounds is of principal concern for GRSA in assessing whether a race meeting or individual races on a program should proceed, be delayed or abandoned.
In line with GRSA’s payment policy for abandoned meetings, the stakemoney for all races (except the SA Sprint Championship) will divided equally amongst engaged runners. The SA Sprint Championship Final will be moved to next Thursday (25th January) with the same field and box draw. As no heats were conducted of the John Gray feature event, heats of this series will be reprogrammed to next Thursday 25th January, with a requirement that trainers re-nominate. The final will now be conducted on Thursday 1st February and nominations for the heats will close on Monday 22nd January at 9.00am.
