Angela Modra Secures a Double
Greyhound racing returned to Gawler on Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon this week. On Wednesday afternoon we saw a twelve race time graded race meeting. Gawler River trainer Angela Modra had a big day out on Wednesday when she scored a double. In race eight her greyhound Termo Beach saluted the line first over 531 meters from box three. Termo Beach found the rail and led all of the way to run a time of 31.38. Angela’s other greyhound in the race Another Ruby ran second which gave Angela the Quinella. A little bit later on in race ten Angela secured a double when her consistent greyhound Sutton Harry ran first over 400 meters. He ran a time of 23.30 and it was his first win since June of this year.
We saw another twelve race program on Friday afternoon. Langhorne Creek trainer Yvonne King made the long trip to Gawler with only the three runners nominated. Her greyhound Allinga Chloe was perfectly drawn from box one in race six. She began well from the inside box to lead all of the way for a commanding victory. She ran a slick time of 22.81 in the process which was also a new personal best time for her at Gawler. Yvonne would strike again in race seven when Allinga Ollie would prove too strong from box seven. He didn’t lead initially but he ran home strongly to salute the judge first. He ran a time of 22.70 which is very solid.
Also on Friday we saw the final of the Masters series over the 400 meters. The heats were run the Friday prior. The favourite for the final was Ranger Rose for trainer David Hall. He showed strength to power through and find the lead midway through the race. He went on to win the final by a length and a half. He ran a time of 23.06 in the process.
Racing returns to Gawler on Wednesday afternoon and Sunday night this week. There will also be racing at Gawler on Boxing day during the evening. Make sure you come to the Nixons Function Centre soon to see some high quality greyhound racing.
