You will struggle to find a kennel anywhere going better than Tim Aloisi’s at the moment and he will again bring his small team of three to the track on Thursday in the hope of another Thursday night fill up.

In what has been a brilliant start to the year 2023 for Aloisi, he has trained 13 winners from 17 starters thus far, with his last 7 starters all being winners. It’s a fantastic effort and partly due to the strong team of dogs he currently has running.

On Thursday, he will have Lochinar Alosi in the time graded final with box six to deal with, the airborne Ravers Army over 595m from box one who looks a good thing and the flying Mepunga Raider who was simply electric in his 30.35 victory on Monday night.

Mepunga Raider has only had two starts for Aloisi since relocating from Victoria, with both resulting in victories. From box two in the 4/5 grade race of the night, he will be hoping to continue his winning form.

“They’ve been good (Mepunga Raider’s last two wins), I kind of rushed him in a way, he was a bit underdone for the first race, that’s why I didn’t put him in the heat of the St Ledger. He was eligible for that but I thought he was another run or two short, so I just put him in a grade 5 and he won which I thought was good. On Monday that’s where I thought the dog can be, a 30.35 run with a 12.60 run home.” said Aloisi

“He’s boxed well and if he jumps then I think he will definitely be hard to beat, I think he can improve on 30.35.”

“Raver’s Army is in a pretty hard race but he does go good off the red, but it is tricky because their is a bit of pace from (Springvale) Roxy. I would probably say of the three that my best bet is Mepunga Raider.”

After a brilliant 2022 campaign from Fantastic Radley, he will be hoping to get on the winners list for the first time in 2023 after a great first up return last week at Angle Park.

With his last run being the Topgun Stayers in Victoria, Fantastic Radley had an injury enforced spell which saw him out of action for three months. Last week's return run was terrific over the 530m trip and he will race over the same distance this Thursday night when he exits box four in the SA Owned grade 5 race of the night.

With a strong field assembled for the event, the now four year old chaser will be calling upon all of his strength and smarts to try and land a victory, as he aims to work his way back up the staying journey.

Co-trainer, Oswald Chegia has spent an enormous amount of time getting the white and black dog back to the track after his latest setback and it was a run last week that no doubt provided him with a great sense of relief.

“He had a crack in his hock joint, one of the bones had a fracture in it. I think it happened when he won the Premier’s Cup.” said Chegia

“I thought it was very good, it was enormous. He hadn’t had a race start for quite a while and he had only had a couple of trials. I was going to trial him Sunday morning and I thought well we might as well put him in and use the race as a trial.”

“He had been trialling okay, only at Murray Bridge.”

“As long as he has a run with no injury then that’s all that matters, he pulled up really well after Thursday, I just hope he gets around injury free.”

“That’s the plan, he will be going back to 700m soon, if he pulls up alright after Thursday then that will be the next mission, 680m or 730m.”

Elegant Ritzy for the astute Richard Stasiak hasn’t been racing with a great deal of luck in recent times and the daughter of Fernando Bale will be hoping that can change on Thursday night.

The strong bitch has put in some excellent efforts despite the poor luck at her recent outings, which included a couple of terrific Mount Gambier runs.

From box two on Thursday in a grade 6 over the 530m trip, she will be looking to make the most of an easier field compared to what she has been racing.

“She’s drawn well, she definitely needs the inside! She’s been unlucky in her last couple of runs at Angle Park, for example last week, the one who I expected to lead and for us to follow, it came out and the three came back on her. She’s not all class, so everything has to go right her way.”

“The day she lobs on the fence without any trouble she will go close, because she’s fairly strong, she runs a reasonable ‘530’.”

“She’s trialled there to the back in 17.70 or so, she will definitely break ‘31’, maybe get to the 30.80-30.85 without trouble.”

“It depends on the boxes and the run to the first turn, if she gets around the first turn behind the leader she will go close I think.”

Best Bet: Howling Hoss (Race 7, Number 4)

Value Bet: Elegant Ritzy (Race 4, Number 2)
