The Bill Wudarczyk trained Alfieri which qualified for the rich Launching Pad series at Sandown after his brilliant win in the SA local series on 21st March will be unable to take his spot in the heats this week due to illness.

The son of Fernando Bale and Rhonda Rocks travelled across to Victoria last week to trial at Sandown last Thursday night. He was sent to the kennels of Victorian trainer Steve White and whilst connections were concerned that the youngster had dropped around 1 kilo in weight during the travel he did trial well in preparation for the heats. Over the weekend Alfieri became ill and has not eaten since so in the best interests of the greyhound he will not take his spot in the Launching Pad heats this Thursday night at Sandown and we wish him a full recovery. Under the local conditions of the SA Launching Pad series to gain an SA representative the next greyhound will be giving the opportunity in the series. The second greyhound in the local final was Bailey Rocks also trained by Bill Wudarczyk however she is engaged tonight at Angle Park in Grade 5 heats and if runs in the first four she will be engaged next Monday night. She has also had no exposure to the Sandown track prior to the series let alone the travel so connections declined. The third placed greyhound was Red Rock trained by Kirin Corby who is currently in Victoria and did trial last week at Sandown for his stint in Victoria. Under the conditions the connections of Red Rock have been offered to replace Alfieri as SA’s representative in the series to which they accepted.

We wish Red Rock the very best of luck during the series which begins on Thursday night with the heats, then the Semi-Finals are on Thursday, 11th April and the $150,000 to the winner final will be run on Thursday, 18th April.
