AGRC Stayers FFA & Sprint final
2015 AGRC STAYERS FFA FINAL & AGRC SPRINT FINAL REVIEW
Whilst the weather last night at Angle Park was cold and wet the action on the track was sizzling hot with the running of the AGRC Stayers Free For All final and the AGRC Sprint final for Grade 5 greyhounds. Thanks to the terrific support of the Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club both finals brought together some of the best and most exciting chasers in the State.
The AGRC Stayers FFA final were the same greyhounds that competed in last week’s heat with Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris sent out a warm favourite after her blistering win in the heat. Grifter Bale for Ben Rawlings was also well in the market and looking for another feature win after taking out last months SA Distance Championship. Unfortunately outstanding stayer Psychotic Gold could not take her place in the feature final due to injury and hopefully is only be off the scene for a short period.
Grifter Bale bounced out from box 7 and quickly assumed the lead with He’s A Villian in close attendance. Luna Jinx began well from box 1 but drifted back to midfield in the heavy going. Down the back straight Grifter Bale opened up a sizeable lead from his rivals with Luna Jinx moving to second but struggling to take ground off the leader while kennel mate Springvale Clint began to make ground from the tail of the field.
Entering the home straight Grifter Bale was in no danger going onto record a strong 3¾ length win in a brilliant 43.24 ahead of Luna Jinx who never really showed her explosive burst over the concluding stages in the wet conditions. Springvale Clint ran an excellent race to grab third a further 7 lengths away and looks another exciting staying prospect for the Gavin Harris kennel.
Grifter Bale has now won 16 races from 63 starts with 18 placing’s and prizemoney around $48,000.
In the AGRC Sprint final it looked a pretty open affair with the likes off Fast Noodle, Barnes Bay, Cosmic Shez and Taser McBain all having early speed and Getty Bale, Victa Brooke and Penny Grove strong run home types.
The punters settled on Fast Noodle for trainer Troy Murray to take full advantage of the inside box and hopefully lead throughout. As the start was affected Taser McBain exploded out of the boxes for Vadim Roz and applied plenty of pressure to Fast Noodle on the first turn with the Troy Murray trained speedster pushing through into the back straight. Both Getty Bale for Wendy Matcott and Victa Brooke for Ron Shadow settled nicely just off the pace.
As they raced off the back straight it looked like Fast Noodle had pinched a break on his rivals however out the pack came Getty Bale with a strong run. As the field neared the winning post Getty Bale was getting home too hard for her rivals to go on and win by ¾ lengths just ahead of Fast Noodle with Victa Brooke finding something like her best form to run home into third place. Getty Bale recorded a handy 30.31 in the wet conditions and looks to have a bright future for the Matcott team.
Getty Bale has now won 8 races from 19 starts with 7 placing’s and prizemoney around $15,000.
