Adelaide Cup Preview - October 8th, 2021
By The Shadow
Tonight’s racing here at headquarters doesn’t get any bigger than what we have installed on the 12 event programme, we have the running of the 2021 TAB Adelaide Cup final. Our feature will be Race 8 with $100,000 going to the winner and with 4 locally trained sprinters making their way through to tackle the interstate brigade it certainly will make for an interesting affair. Glen Rounds superstar Aston Rupee is owned here in SA by Ray Borda and the speedster will have to do everything right to win from his wide draw. The TAB 2021 Premiers Cup over the 730m is another terrific race (5) with the 6 runners over the journey, as always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.
Race 1 - We need to build a bank early for this evening and I like Rugged And Ready who is getting close to a win but his box manners have been hit and miss of late, tonight should be the night. Add Forte Nero who won well for us last week and last years Adelaide Cup winner Golden Night for the minors. Box Up 3.6.7.8
Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the night and we will stick with Born A Star for Kenny Gill, she has a good turn of early pace and can hopefully pinch this here. Express Black along with High Octane are in the Rasmussen kennel can run into the placings. Box Up 1.4.5.7
Race 3 - Sudden Force was a last start winner at Murray Bridge in good time, he has been racing well and has been placed here in the past. Toby West was a good winner at Gawler in 30.77 and his early pace brings him right into the mix. Barbados Express is our value runner for the First Four. Box Up 1.4.7.8
Race 4 - Mallee Magic didn’t lose any admirers here last week when 4th in a Cup heat, he was running on strongly and can bounce back here tonight. Zinfandel Nikki has been in the money at her last 6 runs here and is a must for the trifecta punter again. Don’t Tell Lies will be the improver from the draw. Box Up 1.2.4.7
Race 5 - This is the 2021 TAB Premiers Cup over the 730m and has $10,000 to the winner, Lashes Monelli has been super impressive since arriving from WA, she has won 3 of 4 and has improved her time at each run. Sir Truculent is having his 100th start tonight, he was running on at Gawler last Sunday and we can’t leave him out of this. Run Like Jess and Aston Kipchoge for a bit of value. Box Up 1.2.5.8
Race 6 - This is the Adelaide Cup consolation with $10,000 to the winner and with Mr. Fix It getting a run in the Group 1 final we will go with WA performer Nangar Rust who is nicely drawn down in box 1, he will be running on strongly. Rushes has been in great form and can run into the placings and Fantastic Victor has been performing well. Box Up 1.2.7.8
Race 7 - I like one here at each way value in My Name’s Craig, he can nearly lead from the inside draw and go on and score. Hot Spartan loves a wide box and won here two runs back from this draw, he will be right in the mix once again. See You Smile is another with early pace and should be at double figure odds. Box Up 2.4.5.8
Race 8 - This is the 2021 TAB Adelaide Cup final and it certainly has turned into a quality line up, the Glenn Rounds superstar Aston Rupee carved out a slick 29.95 here winning the match race series two weeks ago, he is the only dog to crack the 30.00 barrier on the new circuit and he did that at his 1st look. He will need to fly the lids from his wide draw and if he does will take a power of beating. Weblec Blazer was an enormous run when winning here last week, he threaded his way through the field from well back and still ran a smart 30.25, he is the danger. SA sprinter Spring Lilac was another who has been on the improve ,she carved out a BON 30.22 when leading all the way and has enormous potential. Reserve Mr. Fix It and Do It are drawn to run cheeky races. Box Up 4.6.8.9
Race 9 - Lana Roads has been racing well of late winning two of her last three, she has the early pace to lead and looks hard to catch. Spring Agatha was a last start Gawler winner in good time, she loves the wide draws and will be running on strongly. Highly Praised has good box speed and can run a bold a race. Box Up 1.5.7.8
Race 10 - Adele’s Entity was very unlucky when checked here last run and fell, she was in suburb form prior winning four on the trot and can return to the winner’s circle here. Woodside Zulu will be running on if he can stay out of trouble early, he looks a place chance. Cawbourne Hope and Victa Reid look First Four chances. Box up 1.3.4.6
Race 11 - It’s been a big night up to late and let’s hope we have been backing a few winners, we will go with the well-drawn Spring Drama here who has been placed at her last 3 here and Murray Bridge, she is our top pick. Aston Carlos is another who is well drawn and will be right in the mix, add Springvale Rex who will need to be at his best from the awkward draw. Box Up 1.2.4.8
Race 12 - Victa Kurt can send us home on a winning note, he found trouble here at his last run when unplaced from a wide draw, he is drawn to have every chance in this. Shavano showed pace only to run wide on the home turn to finish 2nd in a heat of the cup, he is well back in grade here tonight and should start the favourite. Box Up 2.4.5.8
