Young trainer Dillion Robinson only recently got his trainers license, but he has had plenty of success with his chaser Abernathy. He scored his first winner as a trainer back in July with Abernathy and Abernathy has only been unplaced one time since coming to South Australia. He returned to the winners list on Sunday Night at Gawler after being runner up four starts in a row. Sunday night was Abernathy’s first run over the longer distance of 531 meters and it suited him perfectly. He jumped away fairly from box eight and then found the lead down the back straight. He ran home strongly and defeated Rogue Player by nearly 5 lengths and ran a time of 31.03. Abernathy has now had 12 starts in South Australia with four wins and seven placings. Robinson is showing some very promising sings as a trainer in the early stages of his career.

We saw a lot of roughies score victories on Sunday Night at Gawler. Sometime Crazy for trainer Renata Maruszczyk was one of those roughies when he won at a closing price of $51 on the fixed odds. Hillbilly Road won at a price of $21 on the fixed odds for Jack Trengove. Jayde Hurley was also successful later in the night when her greyhound Lektra Linda won at a price of $19 on the fixed odds. Another young trainer Lachlan Mill had some success in the first race with his greyhound Our Winnie. She gained a start as the second reserve from box eight and she showed tremendous speed early to avoid trouble and lead all of the way to score her first career win. That was only her second career start. Lachlan Mill is another young trainer who is having plenty of success in the early stages of his training career.

Gawler will have racing on Wednesday afternoon this week but will not be racing on Sunday night. There will be racing there on Monday night instead and that race meeting will feature the heats of the Gawler Gold Cup. The final of the cup will be run on Sunday the 24th of October which will be very exciting night. To secure your free general admission tickets to the final head over to grsa.com.au/GoldCup.
