2022 SA Syndicate of the Year

“My Four Girls” Syndicate – 119 wins

This is the sixteenth time that this award has been presented to acknowledge an important part of our industry in Syndication. The “My Four Girls” Syndicate was formed in SA on 24th January 2020 with current members including Sue Schadow, Carol Hondow, Ron Schadow and Kerry Braun. Robyn Basham left the syndicate on 24th March 2022.  In 2022 The Syndicate won 119 races with their greyhounds winning races at all of our venues. The main performers were Victa Grosso (21 wins), Victa Kurt (12 wins), Victa Reid (9 wins), and Victa Haydn (8 wins).

A special mention to other SA registered syndicates who had good success in 2022 which included Board Racing (69 winners), The Nineofus (40), Next Racing (35) and Razza Racing (33).

2022 SA City Strike Rate

Ken Gill – 38.46%

This award is based on performances for Angle Park city meetings (City A/City B). The trainer must also have a minimum of 20 starters for the year. Ken qualified mainly through the performances of Sunset Toxic who had 9 wins from 19 starts at city tracks. During 2022 Ken trained 10 winners from 26 starters at city meetings, giving him a winning 38.46% strike rate.

2022 Gawler Trackstar Award

Springvale Roxy – 18 starts (11/2/3)

Trainer – Mike Giniotis

Springvale Roxy raced 10 times over the Gawler 400m journey with 6 wins and 2 placings with her best time being 22.50. She raced 8 times over the 531m journey winning 5 races and placed on 3 occasions with her best time being 30.34. She raced all year winning 61% of her races and running in the top three 88% of the time.

2022 Run Of The Year – Stout Monelli (February) & Victa Grosso (September)

With the voting comprising of 50% Public Vote and 50% GOTY Panel both of these performances could not be split in the voting process, so they are joint winners.

Stout Monelli for trainer Tim Aloisi jointly won the Run of the Year after he smashed the track record over the 595m at Angle Park on Thursday, 10th February. Stepping up to the 595m for the first time he quickly asserted his dominance on his rivals running to the front early and from there he was never going to be caught. He ran splits of 8.39 and 20.90, stopping the clock at 33.68 in winning by almost 7 lengths. He broke the previous best time by .32 meaning he would have beaten that greyhound by over 4 lengths. No other greyhound during the year was able to break the 34 second barrier.

Victa Grosso for trainer Tony Rasmussen also jointly wins the Run of the Year for the second year in a row. Last year Victa Grosso won the Run of the Year with a brilliant Group 3 Gawler Cup Feature win and this year it was all about pure speed. Five days prior he captured the Mount Gambier 512m track record in sizzling style he then ventured to Gawler over the 531m on Sunday, 2nd September. He started a dominate favourite and justified that quote leading throughout and winning by over 11 lengths with all attention on his time. He ran a time of 30.22 which bettered the previous mark by .01 which was set by Regional Image back in 2003 and then equalled by It’s Classified in 2015. This was one of the long-standing track records across Australia until it was broken in devastating style.

Stout Monelli received the most public votes and was second by the GOTY panel where Victa Grosso got top votes from the GOTY Panel and was second with the public votes.
