Last night at Angle Park, Sister Roberta for trainer Ben Rawlings proved too fast and too strong in the 2022 Kings And Queen s Final at headquarters after she was able to lead throughout in impressive fashion.

The daughter of Barcia Bale and Phantom Mime was sent out a clear second favourite just behind the David Peckham trained Captain Larry who had drawn the red. As the start was affected Sister Roberta showed her blistering early speed from box 3 to assume control in the lead with a sizzling first split of 5.16. She led by three lengths early with Captain Larry pushing up along the inside or Southbound for Kirin Corby who landed second and third. Strong chances in the market were Kruger Lass for Bronwyn Welsh which began steadily from box 2 to sit near the tail of the field and On The Tequila for Robyn Mackellar which also began steadily from box 4 to join her at the rear.

Into the back straight and Sister Roberta was high rolling out in the lead, still with a nice break from Captain Larry which moved to a clear second, followed by Foreshadow for Kirin Corby. Kruger Lass began to make ground from the rear along the rails however On The Tequila found trouble and lost all winning chance being checked back towards last. Off the back straight and Sister Roberta was still out by three lengths from Captain Larry who was trying to bridge the gap without much success, Foreshadow was battling away in third ahead of Southbound however Kruger Lass was railing strongly and making good ground along the inside. Turning for home and Sister Roberta was going strongly in the lead with the race all parcelled up, she went down to the line an impressive 2.25 length winner from Kruger Lass which rattled home along the inside to claim second by 1 length from Captain Larry. Sister Roberta ran a slick 30.58 for the 530m journey showing her class against strong opposition.

She is owned by the Toot Toot syndicate managed by Matthew Trzeciak and has now won 10 races with 14 placings from her 27 starts with career prizemoney just over $30,000.

Greyhound Racing SA introduced the Kings and Queens Feature series a number of years ago in support of those greyhounds affected by the change to the GCA Age Restricted Classics from 30 months back down to 27 months. With the Age Restricted Classics looking to move back to 30 months next year this may be the last edition of this series.
