Last night at Angle Park there were three heats of the Group 3 Howard Ashton for SA Bred greyhounds whelped between 1st January 2017 and 30th June 2017 where the Kirin Corby trained Querencia stamped himself as the greyhound to beat next week in the semi finals and the following week in the $26,000 to the winner final.

Out of the exciting Dyna Double One X Irish Keepsake litter which produced last month’s rich Launching Pad winner Tauwitchere at Sandown, Querencia blistered around the Angle Park loam in an amazing 29.30 for the 515m journey in winning by over 13 lengths.

He ran splits of 4.43 and 16.59 with his overall time putting him equal 12th with Dyna Double One 29.30 in 2015, Big Time Max 29.30 in 2007

Shima Breeze 29.30 in January this year for the fastest times recorded at Angle Park over the 515m. In front of him on times are - Brett Lee 28.88 in 2001, Brett Lee 29.04 in 2001, Betty’s Angel 29.12 in 2007, Big Daddy Cool 29.14 in 2004, Betty’s Angel 29.17 in 2007, Worm Burner 29.17 in 2016, Fernando Bale 29.20 in 2015, Eduardo 29.20 in 2015, Mepunga Blazer 29.25 in 2017, Classic Capri 29.26 in 2001(second behind Brett Lee) and Rulebook 29.26 in 2014,

Other heat winners were Errington for Cameron Butcher who lead throughout in a slick 29.87 and Oakvale Beauty for Nathan Wilson which ran home powerfully in a solid 30.03.

The first five from each heat and fastest sixth from last night qualify for next Thursday nights semi finals with the Group 3 $37,500 Howard Ashton final run on Thursday 30th May.
