2018 Cinderella’s Champion Puppy Final - Review
Last nights Cinderella's Commercial Cleaning Champion Puppy final at Angle Park saw one of the most even line up’s of young chasers gathered together in recent years with the Mike Giniotis trained sprinter Victa Caleb claiming the $7,495 first prize.
With plenty of speed in the race the run to the first turn was always going to be crucial and it was Victa Caleb who boxed best and was able to take up the lead leaving the front straight. The El Grand Senor x Victa Victoria flyer was hotly pursued by Alicante Bouchet for Ben Rawlings, kennel mate Victa Ashley and Lose Your Blues for Nathan Wilson. Down the back straight Victa Caleb was full of running with his challengers struggling to close the gap. Victa Ashley and Lose Your Blues both ran past Alicante Bouchet but it seemed they were only battling out second. Turning for home Victa Caleb was in no danger and went on to record a strong victory in a solid 30.10 by 1 length from Lose Your Blues who just claimed second ¾ of a length ahead of Victa Ashley.
It was a terrific training performance by Mike Giniotis who trained both 1st and 3rd who are litter brothers and he paid tribute on the presentation dais to owners and breeders Ron and Joan Schadow for giving him the opportunity to train such exciting sprinters. Whilst Ron and Joan were not presented their daughter and extended family members were on hand and very proud of their achievements. It was also terrific to have Cinderella’s Commercial Cleaning on board again as sponsor for this year’s Champion Puppy series and Managing Director Mark Ferdinands spoke extremely well about his sponsorship and was congratulatory to the winning connections.
Victa Caleb has not been out of the placings in his 14 lifetime starts which include 7 wins and 7 minor placings and prizemoney of just over $18,000.
