2016 STATE FINAL NATIONAL SPRINT – BOX DRAW

There were three fabulous Heats last for the State division of the National Sprint Series where Worm Burner for Cameron Butcher stamped himself as the greyhound to beat in next weeks State Final.

The son of Oaks Road and Little Looper showed his brilliance with a strong display of chasing, rounding up his rivals and racing away for a 7 length win in a brilliant 29.50 making him easily the fastest qualifier. Worm Burner defeated Temalor and Wilba Beast and after drawing box 7 in the final will now start the red hot favourite.

The second heat looked a match race on paper between Marlow Brown for Paula Hearnden and Fabregal for Robyn Mackellar and that’s the way it turned out. Fabregal and Marlow Brown had a great battle to the line after racing on the pace with Marlow Brown just edging out his rival with Rhynstone Jetta claiming third. He ran 29.88 for the 515m and was very impressive however box 8 in the final will make it hard for him to find a position early. Fabregal has fared better in the final drawing the coveted red box and with her speed she should be able to take full advantage next week.

The last heat saw Coorong Kid for Cameron Butcher return to his very best form with a brilliant performance in winning by over 2 lengths in a slick 29.86. He defeated Wave To Kirra and Backpacker with race favourites Lachlan Brown and Caustic Bale finding trouble early.
