 2015 JOHN GRAY – REVIEW

After six terrific heats last week the 2015 John Gray Final last night was a terrific race at Angle Park with the Ray Murray trained My Party leading throughout to record a strong victory.

A high quality field was assembled for the 20th running of the Grade 5 feature with all runners given some hope of taking out the $5,000 first prize. Both Dakota Premier for Colin Simes and Alderley Reform for Terry Cahalan were sent out as favourites for the event.

With a charge to the first turn the favourites were put out of business and lost all chance with My Party punching through from box 3 to assume the lead just ahead of Dr. Kiaralee and Dyna Vank.

My Party flew down the back straight opening up a slight break on the field with Dyna Vank running home and both Young Gun McBain and Cash In Looper vying for third.

As heads turned for home My Party was in no danger going on to record a strong win in a slick 29.90 for the 515m journey. He won by 1 length from Dyna Vank who continued to run home strongly with Cash In Looper grabbing third a further 1 ½ lengths away.

My Party is by Black Wolf out of Kalden Hania and is owned by Lachlan Vines. My Party has now won 11 races from his 34 starts including 15 minor placings and prizemoney over $22,000.
