Last night at Angle Park we saw four exciting heats of the Coffex Coffee Oaks where the first two placegetters from each heat qualified for next week’s Group 3 final. In a series that looked to be dominated by the Interstate raiders it was great to see the South Australian’s qualifying three runners for the final.

The first heat of the night was taken out by the Lauren Harris trained local Nit Noi at the luxurious odds of $15.00 who showed excellent speed from her inside draw to lead her more fancied rivals before holding them at bay and recording a gutsy win. She rated a solid 29.99 for the 515m to win by 3 lengths from race favourite Elfen Bale for Victorian trainer Andrea Dailly who looked new on the track and should derive plenty of benefit for the run going into next week’s final.

The second heat of the night was won at the start when Western Australian visitor Jamaica The Fun exploded out of box 1 to run 4.34 to the first turn. With interference behind she pinched a break and went on to win by 2 lengths from Victorian Sacramento Star who ran home solidly. Jamaica The Fun has drawn box 8 in the final and looks like she wants the rails so it is going to be very interesting in the run to the first turn next week.

The fastest qualifier for the final was the Mario Briganti trained Victorian flyer Angie Rocks who recovered from a slow beginning to record a blistering 29.65 win for the 515m journey. She ran home in a sizzling 12.48 and went past her rivals in the home straight like they were nailed to the fence. She won by 3 lengths from local Scarp Missile for Trevor Jessup and Victorian Headline for Keith Hellmuth who both ran very well and each broke 30 seconds. Angie Rocks has drawn awkwardly in box 5 next week and with plenty of speed around her she is going to be back near the tail however she is clearly the one to beat with only average luck.

The final heat of the night was won by the Victorian kennels of Jeff Britton when Cosmic Owl made it 4 wins from the 1 box for all the heat winners when she was able to lead most of the way and record a solid 29.94 victory. She won by 3 ¼ lengths from SA’s best chance in the series Mrs Bubbles for Matthew Payne who ran a solid race into second at her return to racing from injury.

The $35,000 Group Three final will be run next Thursday night 10th September. It will be race 8 on the program and is listed to jump at 9.12pm (SA time).

Greyhound lovers also got a taste of things to come in the next few weeks with greyhounds racing and trialling in preparation for next week’s BGC Industrial Cleaning Supplies SA Derby and they couldn’t be anything but impressed with Dyna Double One for trainer Andrea Dailly. The high class Victorian easily account for FFA company last night running a sizzling 29.43 with splits of 4.47, 16.97 and a run home of 12.46 in winning by over 5 lengths and now looks very hard to beat in the heats next week.

Blazin’ Bomber for Victorian trainer Darren Pattinson trialled prior to last nights meeting running 4.49, 17.05, 29.85 for the 515m journey. This was an excellent effort considering they had their initial flight cancelled and had to come straight to the track, trial and then leave to return home on their booked flight. I would expect more improvement in next week’s heats.

Fun Boss for WA trainer Lexie Isaac trialled during the meeting and impressed with his high speed early running 4.40, 16.97, 30.01. He is the WA Derby winner defeating Dyna Double One and if you can lead in Adelaide your always hard to run down.
