2015 CLASSIC TRIPLE M ADELAIDE CUP – BOX DRAW
Last night at Angle Park a big crowd was on hand to see five fantastic heats of the Classic Triple M Adelaide Cup where the winners and three fastest second placegetters from the heats qualified for next week’s big Group 1 final.
Most greyhound enthusiasts were on course to see if super star Fernando Bale could take one step closer to being the first greyhound in history to go past the $1 million in prizemoney and the Andrea Dailly flyer didn’t disappoint. The son of Kelsos Fusileer and Chloe Allen started a very warm favourite in the final heat on the night and after he seemed to stumble slightly out of the boxes he motored as soon as his feet hit the ground running his first split in a brilliant 4.34 and then extended his lead further down the back in a sizzling 16.59. As heads turned for home Fernando Bale was in full flight and raced down to the finishing post in a brilliant 29.36 for the 515m journey becoming the fastest qualifier for next Fridays Group 1 final. He defeated Waymore’s Blues by over 5 lengths for Kelly Bravo who ran home powerfully to also qualify. Fernando Bale has drawn box 6 in the final and the winner’s purse of $75,000 will see him break through the million dollars so no doubt all eyes will be on the Victorian superstar next Friday night however he will be facing one of his stiffest challengers after there were some other brilliant performances in the other heats.
The night started off with the other Andrea Dailly star chaser Dyna Double One proving far too strong for his rivals. One of the best chasers in the country Dyna Double One overcame a slow start to win in brilliant fashion, racing away from his rivals in a sizzling 29.64 and laying claims to the Adelaide Cup title. He won by an ever increasing 4 ½ lengths from Scarp Missile for local trainer Trevor Jessup who battled on well after leading off the back straight. Dyna Double One has not fared well in the box draw coming from box 5 however a solid beginning and luck in running could see him power over the top of his rivals.
South Australia secured two spots in next weeks Group 1 final in heat 4 last night with an unexpected duo running the quinnella. SA Owned and Bred chaser Lachlan Brown for trainer Paula Hearnden caused one of the biggest upsets in Adelaide Cup history when he was able to lead throughout and hold all his rivals at bay in a flying 29.83. A greyhound possessed with abundance of ability but at just his 6th lifetime start most judges felt the competition would be too fierce however in an outstanding training performance the son of Lochinvar Marlow and Liza Brown found his way into the biggest race of the year. Flashing home for second at $31.00 was the Bosco Staminkovic trained Mobius who rocketed home in a sizzling run home time of 12.60 giving SA good representation next week. Mobius will need a lot of luck from box 4 next week as she is slow out and so will Lachlan Brown as he takes another massive step in his career but just making the final in such an outstanding Cup series is a fabulous achievement in itself.
Heat 3 looked a two dog war on paper and that’s the way it turned out with Shared Equity for Victorian trainer Angela Langton and Kayda Shae for Kelly Bravo matching motors over the 515m journey. Shared Equity got the jump on her rival with a brilliant lead time of 4.33 as she raced to the front. In hot pursuit was Kayda Shae who began fairly before quickly mustering momentum and racing to second as they entered the back straight. High balling in front Shared Equity was carving out quick times however Kayda Shae was diving inside and outside to go past his fellow Victorian. When they entered the front straight Kayda Shae loomed up for one last crack at Shared Equity however the finishing post came too quickly with the Angela Langton trained speedster holding on for a super win. She ran a blistering 29.61 however the run of Kayda Shae was one of the highlights of the night where he had his momentum stopped on a couple of occasions and for him to still be challenging in such a slick time was an outstanding effort. Both have drawn the outside boxes in the final and look the main dangers to Fernando Bale especially if they can cross the champ early.
Kelly Bravo achieved a rare feat last night qualifying three greyhounds for a Group 1 final when Secret Spell won her heat in brilliant fashion. Secret Spell joined kennel mates Kayda Shae and Waymore’s Blues in the final when she returned from a 2 month break with a dazzling display of chasing leading throughout in a flying 29.74 defeating Kiss The Hawk for Petar Jovanovic by over 2 lengths. She has drawn box 3 in the final and looks one of the main players as she should be perfectly positioned.
The $107,500 Group 1 Final will be run next Friday night 9th October. It will be race 8 on the program and is listed to jump at 8.58pm (SA time).
