2015 CHAMPION PUPPY REVIEW

A cold night greeted greyhound’s fans who ventured out to Angle Park last night for the 34th running of the SA Champion Puppy Final.

All eyes were on short priced race favourite It’s Classified trained by Troy Murray who was shooting for his 4th win in a row but he was upstaged by kennel mate Aston Eclipse who showed his rivals a clean pair of paws as he lead throughout.

The daughter of Magic Sprite and Aston Elle put the writing on the wall in last weeks semi-finals when she was brave in running second however from box 5 last night she jumped straight to the front and gave nothing else a chance. Aston Eclipse ran a handy 30.00 for the 515m journey defeating Von Dousa for Ray Murray by ¾ length with Rhynstone Jetta third a further ¾ lengths back for Martin Doyle. It’s Classified found big trouble on the first turn after a slow beginning and was never a winning chance finishing at the tail of the field however his run can easily be forgiven based on the interference he suffered.

Aston Eclipse is owned by prominent SA owner/breeder Ray Borda who started her career with Jason Thompson in Victoria before being transferred to the Troy Murray kennel for last months Gawler Produce series. She has now had 8 starts for 2 wins and 2 seconds with prizemoney just over $8,000.
