2013 Breeders Prelude (2) Heats
2013 BREEDERS PRELUDE (2) HEATS
Today’s Angle Park meeting features five outstanding heats of the 2013 Breeders Prelude (2) series. This is the second prelude in the series after the first prelude was conducted last month, won impressively by the Ron Schadow trained Victa Brooke. With only the winners from each heat and the three fastest second placegetters qualifying for next Thursday nights $4,500 final, todays racing will be cut throat.
The first heat features the Tania Foster trained Token McLaren who will be looking to go one better after finishing second last month to Victa Brooke in the first prelude. He won his heat prior to that in a sizzling 29.68 and a repeat of that effort will see him go close today. His challengers will come from the promising Deyna who is just struggling to capture his very best form and will have to recover from falling last start and Long Gully Tilly who impressed with a strong 30.26 win last start at headquarters.
SA St Leger winner Carlos Tyson looks to have the class edge on his rivals in heat two. The Tony Lagana trained flyer has been very competitive against strong company recently a finds himself in a very winnable race today. The brilliant but slightly disappointing Cosmic Way looks the danger. He had everyone talking at his second career start when he sizzled around Angle Park in a brilliant 29.62 with the locals thinking could this be the next big thing but since then he has just found ways to get beaten. Anywhere near his best and he will take some catching. McLaren Prince and Plaza Suite look the best of the rest and both should be rattling home at the end of the race.
The speedy Avid Tyson for Tony Lagana should start favourite in heat three however he has only really been finding the 400m mark in his races recently so the extra trip may see something upset him from the pack. Victa Scott for Ron Shadow looks an improving type and has a personal best of 29.89 at Angle Park recorded three starts ago. He ran fourth in a heat of the Anniversary Cup against open company last start and from box 8 he should get a nice run into the race. Stone Cold Casey and Pandora Kist both have good speed and represent terrific eachway value along with the inexperienced High Status who has had one start for one win but is in the astute hands of Ossie Chegia.
One of the best races on the program today is heat 4 which will see the clash between Emerley Lover for Troy Murray who will be shooting for his fifth win in his last six starts and Victa Brooke for Ron Schadow who won last months first prelude brilliantly in 29.98 and then stepped up to open company. Maybe the box draws of 4 and 8 respectively will see the Murray flyer start favourite , but only just. Other chances appear to be strong type Zara McLaren and From The Top.
The final heat see’s one of the State’s best sprinters in Fire Tyson for Tony Lagana take on a handy field however with a record of 15 wins from 33 starts and almost $60,000 in stakemoney he should put them away pretty easy today. Place chances for Victa Nicole, Steffi McLaren and Galaxy Snow.
The first heat kicks off at 1.44pm and is race 4 on today’s program with the last heat at 2.54pm.
