It was a fantastic night of racing at Angle Park on Thursday with an excellent program highlighted by 11 different trainers recording winners on the 12-race card.

The only trainer to record a double on the program was Lachlan Mill, with the young trainer collecting his first ever double at Angle Park with winners in races three and 12 on the card.

After running a close second with Speeding Turtle in the first heat of the maiden series, Mill claimed the second heat of the series with Fast Headache winning in a bunch finish.

Zinfandel Evie led for most of the race for Gavin Harris but got a bit weary late and was over run by both Fast Headache and Canya Win with the barest of margins separating all three runners at the finish.

Spartan Brave completed the double for Mill winning the final race of the evening from box four. Despite the tricky draw, it was able to get to the lead early with a 5.41 first split and was never troubled from there winning by three lengths in 30.84.

Reality Infrared was able to back up its second place finish in the SA final of the National Sprint last week with an impressive win in the Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club Open event last night.

Jumping well from box two, it was able to settle nicely in the front half of the field and when there was trouble up front with Fiorano and Finnish Redeem, Reality Infrared was in a position to pounce sitting second behind Agent Nine Nine.

Reality Infrared took the lead in the home straight powering away and winning by a length in 30.90 and made it two wins and two placings from its last four starts.

Another interesting race on the program was the mixed 3/4/5 over the 595m journey which saw a field comprised of a number of chasers in excellent form.

With Springvale Rex and Bedrock Fred dropping back to the middle distance and Could Be King and Dash Of Blue returning after the sprint final last week, the race shaped as an interesting mix of racing patterns.

It was Dash of Blue for trainer Richard Pearce who prevailed after settling in second behind Springvale Bray for much of the journey. With clear air in second place, it was able to find the rail on the home turn and power away to win by a length from the fast-finishing Bedrock Fred.

The win was Dash Of Blue’s eighth in its past ten starts with its recent run of form including the Shane McQueen final over the 595m journey, sweeping the 530m races in the North vs South Challenge and winning a hear of the National Sprint before running to third in the final.

Richard Pearce has this greyhound going well and it will be one to watch as we head towards some of the feature races in the next few weeks.

The National Sprint final form also stacked up in the grade five race in race 11 on the card with Springvale Maddi claiming a win for Gavin Harris.

In a competitive field including a Tim Aloisi newcomer Zipping Digby, Springvale Maddi showed its customary early speed from box three with a lightning first split of 5.20 to take an early lead.

With clear running in front, it was able to make the most of the clear running and with trouble behind it was able to pull away in the home straight and win by two and a half lengths in 30.80.

Racing returns to headquarter on Saturday morning with next Thursday night’s meeting set to feature heats of the Kings and Queens for 2023.
