TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Our friends at SA.THEDOGS.COM.AU have kindly provided their over view of each of our races again tonight while the Shadow is away however the Shadow could be making a return very soon.

Race 1 - QUINCE BALE (2) deserves a win based off her recent form and she gets the opportunity to do that from this draw tonight. Typically a bit tardy early, but the #4 should run some cover for her early. SUPER SEQUIN (1) was great here last week and she might push through early to the front. SPRING MARRISHIA (7) is going well, chance with luck.

Race 2 - Unless the market gravitates to the #6, I will be pretty surprised if PAW SHAYNA (4) isn't too fast for these. Loved her first up effort when she never gave up the fight, despite having no luck early. ARIA MCLAREN (1) has some strength and the small field is an advantage. DOLAN (6) for third.

Race 3 - DOONAN (3) is just too reliable to not be putting on top here. He is faultless early and is still running pretty nice times. The only worry here is the #2 who might hold him up early. If MISS ARTEMIS (1) got the right run then she would run over the top. Just relying on luck in running. COME ON KILKENNY (2) is well drawn down low.

Race 4 - PRIME OF LIFE (2) is racing in ripping form and he draws pretty well here. Can be a bit risky early but he showed great pickup speed last week and was very strong. Hopefully some value too. PAUA OF SILENCE (6) always runs well and he can handle the wider draw. SUTTON EBONY (3) was unlucky last week, just needs the right run in this.

Race 5 - Never enjoy putting them on top from the carpark here, but AFIRE (8) just looks too classy and too fast top my eye. He has the pace to burn over early and settle outside the #3. Should be too good if that happens. FEDERAL FLASH (3) has early speed and could lead them up. SPRINGVALE BRAY (1) is perfectly drawn down low.

Race 6 - AMAZED BY YOU (1) is perfectly drawn here along the rails and she should get every chance to burn up early. If she can do and that find the front, then there is every chance she's too hard to catch. YODA LADY (8) is fast early, if she nails the starts then she's going to be hard to beat. SPRINGVALE BREE (3) is strong, just needs luck.

Race 7 - Some race this! This field could build a pyramid with all there strength. WOODSIDE JOHNNY (3) was huge last week and he might have enough speed to settle outside the #1 early and pick it up. FEAR THE DRAGON (1) should punch through from the inside and lead. Will be hard to catch. BLACK CHIP (4) just needs some early luck.

Race 8 - Not an easy race this, a few that will need luck but do have the ability. MIDNIGHT TOKEN (3) was impressive last week and if he can leave the boxes like he can, then he will have enough pace to settle close. Taking on some trust with PICCOLO BALE (4), but his best form is very good. WOODSIDE FRANKIE (1) was great last week, just needs to jump.

Race 9 - Clear three dog race this. DEPARTED (8) is getting better with each run here and he was terrific last week. The inside pair may pressure each other and he can capitalise on that and zoom around. PUDDING MONELLI (2) is strong, he will just want to either cross, or slot in behind the #1. VERSATILE (1) will need to lead, but she can.

Race 10 - Even enough field here with a few winning hopes. JIMMY DEWALT (2) is well drawn down low and he tried really hard last week. If he steps like he can then he should get a stack of room to work with. ONE LAST KISS (6) is the most talented, he just needs to settle close and then he can run over the top. TERRIFIC LUCY (5) should be in the finish.

Race 11 - Competitive field here and like any scamper, box manners are going to be super important. HIT THE DRUMS (2) was great on Monday night and he is near faultless early. Think he sits outside the #1 early and is too good. DARLING SHERRY (8) will run a similar race, just harder for him from the draw. DUSK TILL DAWN (1) can lead early.

Race 12 - Match race to finish to my eye and a ripping one at that! DAYNE'S CALAIS (4) is just faultless early and just doesn't make mistakes. Think he can cross the inside pair and if that happens then I expect him to win. DARCY DAKOTA (2) is a faster dog, but he can be a shade risky early. Can power through though. ASTON CASSIDY (8) can nab third.

FISCHER MOTORS MURRAY BRIDGE SUMMER OAKS HEATS THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday night at Murray Bridge we have an excellent program that features three heats of the 2024 Fischer Motors Murray Bridge Country Summer Oaks over the 455m.

The Oaks series are races 4,5 and 6 and features the likes of Bewitch and Yumali in heat 1, Minnie’s My Mum and Mallee Beauty in heat 2 and Mitzi Rocks and Zinfandel Pardy in heat 3.

Race 7 on the program is for the Derby eligible greyhounds. Unfortunately, we only received 8 final nominations for the heats of the 2024 Fischer Motors Murray Bridge Country Summer Derby so under normal policy for feature events this race has been graded as a Special Event with preference for all of these greyhounds (so long as they nominate) into next week’s Derby final. This race features a high quality line up including Leigh Rogers Grade 6 winner He’s Magic and last weeks Group 3 Brian Johnstone winner Dakota Rylen.

The first two placegetters and two fastest thirds from each heat of the Oaks will qualify for next Sundays $7,500 final.  As mentioned for the Derby these 8 greyhounds will have preference into the $7,500 final.

There is also a $1,000 bonus for the trainer of each Final if they are a member of the MBGRC (full paying trainer). Greyhound Racing SA and the Murray Bridge GRC thank the support of Fischer Motors in sponsoring the Country Summer Oaks and Derby again this year.

BLACK SILENCER SHOOTING FOR BOLD TREASE GLORY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Gawler Stayers Cup winner Black Silencer will be aiming for a Group 1 win when he steps out in the Bold Trease final at Sandown over the 715m on Saturday night. Owned by Tim Aloisi and Ioannis Dimitriadis the winner of 6 of his 8 local starts has been sent to Kerrie White for a tilt at some big races. He has drawn box 1 in a hot field which will be race 8 on the program due to start at 8.07pm SA time. SA owned greyhound Finniss Jewel is first reserve for the race after running third in a heat last week.
It’s a wonderful program of racing which also features the prestigious Group 1 Melbourne Cup which is race 10 on the program.

FESTIVAL OF FIRE TO HEAT UP IN DECEMBER
Now in its fourth year, the Festival of Fire is back and bigger than ever in 2024, with a new event added to the two week year end celebration of South Australian greyhound racing.
This year’s series will see The Ember added to the Festival of Fire program and will offer our short course specialists a terrific opportunity to take part in the newest and most exciting fortnight on the South Australian racing calendar.
Run over the 342m distance, The Ember will see our best 16 nominations take part heading towards a $10,000 Final as part of the Festival of Fire Finals night on Thursday, December 19th.
The Festival of Fire is a year end celebration for the local industry, which provides fantastic opportunities across the entire spectrum of racing classes, now across all four distances at Angle Park, the home of SA greyhound racing.
Once again, the ‘Festival of Fire’ series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations for the 530m trip, the best 16 nominations over 595m and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event.
There will also be Heats and Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins) running from Saturday morning to Thursday night which will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner. There will also be a 530m Time Graded event for those greyhounds that rate towards the end of the Time Grading table.
The Festival of Fire series will commence on the race night of Thursday, December 12, continue into the Saturday morning timeslot (December 14) and then culminate in 6 Finals and a special stayers event carrying a collective purse in excess of $110,000 the following Thursday night (December 19).

ANGLE PARK TRIALS ON SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER
Again we have moved our fortnightly Saturday’s to the following week to accommodate the Festival Of Fire series in December. The trials will remain at Angle Park on Sunday, 8th December due to rostering availability even though we will not race on the Saturday morning.

COMMENTS ON NOMINATIONS MARKED “ONLY”
A few years ago the Grading Review Panel agreed that some trainers were using the comments box to influence the grading of fields in particular Grade 5 Only for all their greyhounds. The panel previously resolved that “Only” would be disregarded over all distances and the grading left to the Grader. (Masters Only or Juvenile Only will be accepted as this is for a specific type of race) If trainers put “Only or no start or leave me out” then the grader will grade as normal and if a greyhound would be graded into a mixed event based on race wins then he will leave them out based on the trainers request. The more information provided to the Grader allows for him to accommodate those requests.

WINNING GRADE 6 RACES IN ORDER
GRSA reminds trainers to win their grade 6 events in order at a specific venue. For the venues that allow two Grade 6 wins trainers need to win a Grade 6 over one distance and then a Grade 6 over the other distance. If a greyhound wins a Grade 6 and then a Grade 5 then they will lose their Grade 6 over the other distance at that venue.

RE-GRADING FOR ALL TRACKS AND DISTANCES
Re-grading will occur for all tracks and distances for Grade 3 or higher greyhounds. A trainer can apply for a re-grade after two unsuccessful nominations over the corresponding distance. If having met this criteria the responsibility is on the trainer to apply for a re-grade prior to the close of nominations. Only one distance will be considered for a re-grade per meeting.
